A clean hotel with very generous space in the room—I was upgraded for free which was a nice touch. The Rosemary toiletries, huge shower and tub, Nespresso machine, and free mini bar were all appreciated. The view (I was on the 9th floor) wasn’t the best but overall the room was excellent. I would definitely stay there again!

Great experience at the Middle house! Tasteful design with clean, spacious rooms and awesome maxi bar! Beers milk water coconut juice sweets are all free! (Wine and champagne are not though). Staff are nice and accommodating with high attention to detail. Remember to check out the inconspicuous Bluetooth speaker under the TV and also the swimming pool area as well!

A lovely hotel, well located within walking distance of Jingan Temple and several good eateries. Staff are friendly and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble! Rooms are a nice size with plenty of amenities, and I had a lovely view of the Bund. Breakfast offers plenty of options for all dietary requirements.

Other reviewers have written that this is an “opera” inspired hotel but anyone with a background in Shakespeare will see through that. Each room is named with a word from a verse of a Shakespeare play instead of numbered. Rooms have Chinese editions of Shakespeare’s plays and a sort of “newsletter” explaining the connection between the Bard and the hotel. The bar has A Hamlet quote depicted in fluorescent lights. Michael Fassbender’s “Macbeth” plays on a big screen in the lobby. It’s clear someone here really likes Shakespeare. As to the hotel itself, it is recessed from the street making it somewhat hard for taxi drivers to find but ensures a quiet nights sleep in a lively part of the city. You’re a short walking distance to places like Tock’s and Taco Bell and just a little further distance for the Starbucks Roastery. This is an even better location if you need to visit the US Consular Office for passport related issues and the like as it’s only a few minutes walk away in the Isetan building. Leave your bag and computer here to minimize the security rigamarole of the visit there. Only negative potentially is that my room was pretty dim even with lights on, but that was a minor point, at least to me. Probably not an ideal location if you’re a first time Shanghai tourist looking to spend most of your time strolling the Bund and darting back and forth to Pudong— about a 20 minute taxi ride away. But if you’ve done the Bund and you’re in Shanghai for other reasons, great location. Staff are friendly and helpful. Would certainly stay again.

Smooth check in, front desk answered all the questions I had. Hotel staff and cleaners were friendly. After coming back from a long day it was a good surprise that they gifted me mousepad after seeing I had a laptop for work. Asked for late checkout due to circumstances and got that smoothly as well, lady was also very polite. I would recommend this hotel from my experience

Have to say this is the best hotel I've ever stayed in! ! ! The hotel has an elegant environment and a strong sense of design! The mattress is very comfortable and I slept beautifully all night. The front desk male staff are friendly and friendly. The only downside is that the car parked at the door blocked me from pulling my luggage into the hotel, which was a bit inconvenient. I didn’t feel very satisfied with the room I originally booked. I upgraded to a round bed room. The round bed room is still very beautiful and the environment feels good. The most important thing is that it is very, very close to the Museum of Nature, 200 meters away in a straight line. There is also a subway nearby. This is a really comfortable apartment in a great location. Transportation to everywhere is made really easy with the West Nanjing Rd subway just across the street. There are 24h convenient stores and a large western supermarket nearby for grocery shopping. The inside is spacious and has a decent kitchen and a convenient set up of a bathroom, large closets, and 2 large bedrooms with king beds. We were here for a work trip and stayed for about a week and the amenities are complete to serve the apartment as a home away from home. The host is very responsive and accommodating and she also provides clear instructions for check-in/out and for the usage of all the equipment in the apartment. Thank you, Faye. Highly recommend and will come back again in winter to try out the floor heating!

The waiters are attentive and friendly. The hotel facilities are really well-equipped, the mattresses are moderately soft and hard, there are 2 types of pillows, the toilet is electric, there is a small butler, a large TV, the air conditioning is easy to control, free daily necessities are provided at the front desk, and there are night snacks Night (very delicious braised eggs and porridge). At first, on the first night, as soon as I entered the room and turned on all the lights, I felt it was a little dark. Then I turned on the lamp next to the bed and pointed toward the ceiling, and then I felt a little better. The next morning I woke up and heard a lot of children talking outside the window (it was around 8am), and I thought it was coming from a nearby kindergarten. But after getting used to it, I felt like home after staying for a few nights. There is a subway station across the road, which is very convenient. Although there were a lot of sounds nearby during the day, it was quiet at night and I slept well.

We liked the hotel, its location is wonderful, the service is quite good. It's situated in the downtown area, there are lots of shops and cafes nearby, and the main pedestrian street is very close to the hotel. The room contains everything you need for everyday's life, especially I loved the bathtub, it's clean, snowy white, however it's not so big, but nevertheless it's cosy and nice. The bed, the thick curtains let you sleep until lunchtime 😂 the breakfast is quite good, it includes eggs in 4 variants, coffee, tea, milk, cereal, salami, ham, cheese, pastry, fruit, vegetables, different Chinese food, yoghurt. I haven't seen the iron and ironing board in the hotels before, that's pretty much cool. The small kitchen also contains dishes, cutlery set for two, a cooking pot and pan, a microwave oven, a small fridge, so you can cook something. Thank you for this wonderful stay in Shanghai. If we are in Shanghai once again, we would love to stay in green court again!!!
