„If you want a more authentic experience than staying in a fancy hotel, this is your place. Mrs Liu (sp?) was so lovely and helpful. She speaks a bit of English and is very fast on the translation apps for what she doesn’t know. She gave us a map of the Ancient City and explained where we should visit. Every day she gave us water bottles. We stayed 2 nights. You can experience a kang bed here, in a cozy room in a quaint courtyard. It was quite firm but still comfortable. There is air con which was needed when we were there. The bathroom is small but we found that everything didn’t get wet, despite the small size of the room. The inn is on the “taxi-bus” route just off South Street. As it is a block from the Main Street it is significantly quieter as the honking of “taxi-buses” doesn’t happen as much in the alleyways. Just be careful to walk on the sides of the road as the mopeds and taxi-buses are electric so quiet, except for the honking which is loud and constant, and they drive quite fast for the size and busyness of the streets. There is plenty of food places just a short walk away from the hotel. The ancient city was a lot more touristy than we had expected. You need to prearrange with the innkeeper to organise a “taxi-bus” to pick you up from the South Gate. Regular cars are not allowed inside the city wall. We were dropped by the DiDi but it is too far and busy to walk with luggage to the inn. Mrs Liu and her husband helped us out with their mopeds. Not many “taxi-bus” drivers know the inn as it is a smaller private hotel, so make sure you have the address printed out to show them. The taxi-bus is 10RMB pp per ride and you can flag them down anywhere on the streets they are allowed on, but they may not want to go where you want to go, so just flag another one until you get one that agrees. You scan the drivers QR code to pay. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Pingyao Yunshu Inn.”

„A beautiful guesthouse, the rooms are beautiful too. Bed is big and comfy, very clean and the bathroom is modern despite how traditional the building is. Also has great heating if desired. The family that runs the guesthouse is so so sweet. Their food is also delicious and a great option for a quick breakfast (the buns are to die for). Excellent location. All in all would definitely come back and recommend this place.”

A lovely traditional courtyard hotel with lots of character right in the heart of the old city within walking distance to everything you would want to see. The owner speaks good English and provides you with a map and details of beautiful Pingyao’s must see local attractions. The hotel is quiet and the Chinese breakfasts with either tea or coffee are delicious. The owner can also organise a good driver for any out of town excursions. Highly recommended

This has been our favourite stay in china by far! The owner is so generous and patient despite our lack of Chinese language skills, he even brought us gifts and picked us up and dropped us off at the train station. The residence is also part of the Pingyao world heritage site, we really enjoyed seeing the similarities between fans residence and the buildings presented in the museums around Pingyao (this place has much comfier beds). The traditional Chinese breakfast was also amazing, with veges, steam buns and egg. It’s in a perfect location, out of the noise of the main streets but also an easy stroll to the lively parts of town. I will recommend Fanzhai to anyone that will listen 😁

We stayed at thos lovely hotel. Lovingly restored by the current owner Mr Wang. He is the 6th generation owner of the property. Until 10 years ago it was a derelict and dilapidated building. He poured money, time, blood, sweat and tears to restore it And it does feel and look like a traditional house. You feel you are going back in time. Firstly the customer service is way beyond the call of duty. Its so good, i would recommend staying with mr Wang at whatever hotel he runs. He picked us at the Lower East Gate, and brought us to the hotel, then took nearly half an hour to explain in great detail where we need to visit, whether the sights be in the city or outside the city. Some of his suggestions, not on the tour books were very good . For example he suggested 3 restaurants, and we avoided them thinking he was getting a kickback.on our 4th and last day we tried restaurant no 2 of his. And it was good , the food and service were good. The prices were average with other restaurants and we got a 10% discount being the hotel's guests. And remember we had eaten 10 meals by the time we came to his suggestions. Another suggestion of Mr Wang was Ma family home - also a very good tip from him. Everytime we had a request or question he always responded with enthusiasm. On our last day we checked out at 4am and he still took us to the pick up point at that ungodly hour. Yep Mr and Mrs Wang's customer service is just first class. The room was large, queen deluxe double, and the furnishings were traditional chinese furniture made of Rosewood. Very Expensive furniture for a hotel room. Shower worked well and was hot. However be aware its chinese style wet floor system ie there is no shower curtain between the shower and a small part of the bathroom does get wet if youare not careful. MR Wang said it will be one his improvement on his priority list. Hopefully by the time you booked the problem will have been resolved The hotel is very close to the main streets. About 5 min walk. The city of pingyao is worth visiting, it is one of the very walled cities left in China, with its old buildings intact and people still living it. All the city walls are also intact. Magnificent at night.

去山西行最後到的平遙，沒到民宿的老闆就打電話給我確定時間，告訴我高鐵下來搭多少錢然後在古城北門下車，然後他會過來接我們。到了後，老闆是個高大帥小夥，幫忙搬行李。民宿很有特色，漂亮乾淨。老闆送我們地圖，把所有的景點線路和先後順序都標出來，告訴我們注意事項。特別的細心，感受很好。大炕睡得很舒服，房間不大但是乾淨衞生，沒有難聞的味道，也很安靜。位置是裏面的車能搭到的地方，離步行街也不遠。早上大家在院子裏吃早餐，老闆媽媽一直都是笑容滿面，特別好，雖然講的平遙話我們聽不大懂，但是她會很細緻的告訴我們注意事項。走的時候還幫我們想好了，送行李給我們，還送了一瓶醋。

Excellent location, inside the old city but next to the west gate to go to the train station. Although the staff does not speak English they are very friendly. The room is perfect, with an ancient feeling but all the modern facilities. It is clean and very quiet at night. Rooms surround a lovely courtyard. Great value for money.

Zajazd mieści się w zabytkowym budynku z czasów dynastii Qing. Jest bardzo oryginalny i zabytkowy. Niektóre meble i przedmioty są pozostałościami po dawnych czasach. Znajduje się przy alejce w centralnej części miasta, która jest cicha i wygodna do zwiedzania gdziekolwiek. Szef był bardzo entuzjastyczny i nawet jeździł na elektrycznym osiołku, aby pomóc nam odebrać bagaże. Podczas odprawy przedstawił także trasy podróży i zalecenia dotyczące jedzenia. . Trochę niezadowalające jest to, że cena wzrosła czterokrotnie podczas Święta Wiosny, ale sprzęt i usługi nie wzrosły. Na przykład ciepła woda była zbyt mała, aby wziąć prysznic i nie zapewniono kapci je samodzielnie. Sieć w pokoju narożnym była bardzo słaba, a grzejnik był zimny w ciągu dnia. Dlatego mój pobyt był trochę niezadowalający.

1 maja zabrałem rodziców i dzieci do starożytnego miasta Pingyao. Chciałem, aby moja rodzina doświadczyła atmosfery pensjonatu Jinshang Courtyard B&B. The owner was kind enough to pick me up from the parking lot as no cars are allowed into the Ancient town. The bathroom could really use an upgrade. The toilet seat was cracked and the shower has little water pressure. The hot water was turned off. I had to call the owner to turn on the hot water. It took awhile before the hot water came out. I couldn't enjoy a good shower.
