I traveled through four cities, staying at seven different hotels, but what stayed with me after the trip wasn’t the luxurious rooms or high-end amenities. The most profound impression came from a small hotel in Lijiang, where the staff worked quietly, without fanfare or extravagance, but with a sincerity that touched my heart. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I felt something different. It wasn’t the smooth greetings in foreign languages or gestures learned from hospitality manuals. It was the way they looked at me—with genuine concern, not trying to sell a service but making me feel welcomed. Language wasn’t a barrier because there was a closeness between us, simple yet deeply meaningful. I remember one early morning, as everything was still asleep, I stood on the balcony and looked down at the small garden. Below, a staff member was meticulously wiping each leaf, each plant, as if each leaf held its own life. That simple act, in the quiet of the morning, made me realize that when someone pours their heart into their work, even the smallest task becomes meaningful. After experiencing the space and service here, I began to imagine what the owner of this hotel must be like. Perhaps he is a perfectionist, meticulous, dedicated, and thoughtful. If given the chance, I would love to meet him and learn from his experience. How is it that he only visits the hotel once a year, yet everything remains so flawless? The way every corner of the hotel reflects care and attention mirrors the personality of someone who is attentive to every detail. Perhaps that’s what makes this hotel different. They don’t strive to please the guests too hard, nor do they go overboard in showcasing excellent service. They let their sincerity naturally and invisibly touch the guests’ emotions. And from there, satisfaction naturally follows—effortlessly, without needing to be advertised. Through this trip, I realized that in the service industry, it’s not a race to compete on price or luxury. What customers remember isn’t the soft bed or the sumptuous breakfast, but how they were treated and how much care was given. Everything starts with the simplest things—a glance, a smile, or even wiping a leaf in the garden in the early morning. While many other places focus on selling services, this small hotel in Lijiang has taken a different path. They don’t try to sell; they let the experience sell itself. And when that experience comes from true dedication, customers will remember it forever, because what comes from the heart always lingers the longest.

We stayed in Stone Lodge for 3 nights in the middle of December. Let us talk about the good things first. 1. Snow Mountain View rooms can see 日照金山from bed. 2. Location is good for going to snow mountain. It takes around 20min to reach visitor centre of snow mountain. 3. Service is very good. U can ask for anything and they will provide for example bubble wrap to pack our fragile shopping. There’s also free laundry service. 4. Good for those who like the activities included in the room package. We did the Naxi home visit, horse riding and art and craft diy and enjoyed them very much. We like the afternoon tea provided too. And we can have coffee and fruits as much as we want. Now some points to note. 1. Room is a bit small for 3 of us. The toilet is like a shower cubicle that opens into the room. We only discovered the ventilation switch im the middle of the stay and was wondering why the cubicle is so stuffy, not to mention the smell. With the ventilation on, the problems are solved. The shower cubicle is opposite with the sink in between them. All open into the room with no partition around the bathroom area. The walls of the toilet and shower cubicles are frosted glass and is acceptable for me and my daughters, all ladies. 2. The village is very small. Not much to see. We went to a cafe popular on internet that can take photo on the roof with the snow mountain in the background. The drinks are ok but the pasta is not nice. Maybe that’s why this restaurant is not in the recommended list of the hotel. We did not explore the village much but from what I see, it’s just 1 short street. 3. Ask for a 3rd floor room. It has a sky roof over the bed and we can see stars when we turn off all the lights in the room. Overall, we did not regret our decision to stay here in the Stone Lodge. If the activities were not included in the package, we would not have experienced them at all.

Hotel was well located within the old town so we could easily explore the old town. Hotel includes a photoshoot, tie dye experience as well as daily afternoon tea, free pu-er tea cake and animal encounter which elevated our entire stay and made us felt really welcome. Our personal butler 小周 was also very attentive and very helpful throughout our stay. Only 1 complain is that the hotel room is way too dim.

Yet, once inside, the resort feels like a serene oasis, perfectly balancing traditional elegance with modern luxury. What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is the impeccable service. We had access to 24-hour butler service, and the staff communicated with us seamlessly via WeChat, making every interaction easy, personal, and incredibly attentive. A special and heartfelt thank you to 小唐 and 龙龙, who both went above and beyond to ensure our stay was nothing short of extraordinary. Their professionalism, warmth, and intuitive hospitality made us feel like royalty, anticipating our needs before we even voiced them. The rest of the team was equally gracious and proactive, constantly ensuring our comfort, entertainment, and well-being. Though we were tempted to extend our stay, we chose to continue our travels to a new province — but we left with heavy hearts. This stay was one of the highlights of our entire journey, and we will absolutely be returning in the future. It’s rare to find a place that blends luxury, tradition, warmth, and service so flawlessly. If you’re visiting Lijiang and want to experience the very best of what hospitality can be, Passing-Cloud Resort Wenyuan is the place. Highly, highly recommended.

Best stay during my trip in Yunnan! Went through alot of hotels and finally decided on this place, no regrets! The hotel reached out prior to our check in date and ensured we have a smooth check in. Our butler 小和recommended us places to go and even helped us to get tickets. Staffs there were all very friendly and always greets us. They constantly checked in with us to ensure all our needs are taken care of. The hotel entrance is located beside the main road so getting a didi is very convenient. Rooms are located towards the inside so it is very quiet and peaceful. Lots of eateries nearby and a quick 3min walk to 忠义夜市 which has got plenty of street food. Easy access to 丽江古镇 too. The room is huge and sparkling clean, bed and pillows are very comfortable. There are 2 kinds of heater, room heater or floor heater. Both works very well. Water pressure of the shower is great, but it seems that we cannot adjust the volume of water (wanted to adjust smaller). The tissue provided in the room is thick and of very good quality. There is no lift, and the staffs kindly helped to carry our luggages up and down. The roof of the hotel allows us to see 日照金山. Due to safety issue, have to inform the staff to open the roof access to watch it. The hotel provides free laundry washing and drying service (they will help to do it for you). Breakfast consists of a mix of Chinese and western menu. The porridge is nice! The complimentary tea break is lovely too, especially loved the yam crepe cake. On our departure day, the hotel even kindly gave us a box of tea leaves as gift. Would highly recommend this place!

Excellent stay- Beautifully curated room with Naxi architectural details. Comfortable stay with impeccable service from Chinese and Western options for breakfast that is beautifully plated, delicious dinner (affordably priced). Staff is very friendly and engaging- we particularly enjoyed the Botanic hike in the morning and just hanging around the still rustic village of Yuhu. Highly recommend staying at the The Rock and enjoy a luxurious, cultural stay surrounded by snow mountains. P.s. The hotel is located in a scenic area so do let them know the car plate no before coming.

I am Delightfully Amazed by this renowned famous Banyan Tree Hotel. It is such a Beautifully Constructed Hotel with West Lake like Environment surrounding with Villas giving you a Big Beautiful Chinese style Garden Ambience. I am lucky to get a Free Upgrade to a Villa with Swimming Pools and Jade Dragon Mountain View right in front of Bedroom with a Garden (many thanks to their front office staffs). What impressed me the Most is all their Staffs are so Well Trained on All the Details Focusing on giving you the Best Services that Anyone would ask for. 5 Stars to their Top Management Direction, Management Implementation, All Ground Staffs Dedication to giving World Class Services. Their Restaurant Foods Quality is also very Good and at very Reasonable Pricing for a 5 Stars Restaurant. Do get their Restaurant Breakfast Package which is really Worth it for their Variety and Good Quality Foods. I will highly Recommend this Hotel for anyone that is Visiting Lijiang as even their Location is Perfect at the Middle of the 3 ancient towns so traveling around is within 10-25mins and away from the noisy busy ancient towns. It's my first time spending so much time and efforts to give this honest review because i simply think the Whole Banyan Tree Team deserves it. Impressed, Amazing, Enjoyable, Enchanting, Great Experience, It's a Only Hotel that I will Stay in Lijiang (i cancelled other hotel and extended another 2 more days in Banyan Tree)

The service from the staff are exceptional - they are very helpful and friendly. The hotel is also pet friendly, have self service laundry area, and a few exercise machines. Throughout our 16 days travel in Yunnan, it is one of the few hotels that we actually stayed inside the hotel just to enjoy the vistas and amenities (eg. Voice enabled services, 100-inch projector screen, painting of thangkra, etc). During winter, the morming sun will cast its golden glow on the peak of Yulong Snow Mountain, which is a sight to behold. There is milk provided for the night, which is a nice touch for chilly nights. The breakfast spread was delicious and has good variety with a live cooking station for noodles. It is within walking distance to the Shuhe Ancient Town, and the hotel can also provide shuttle service to Shuhe. It is less crowded compared to Lijiang Ancient Town and Baisha Town. Other nearby attractions include Lashihai Wetland Park and the Black Dragon pool. Overall, Mixue is highly recommended for an enjoyable stay!

Hotel jest dobrze zaprojektowany, łóżka wygodne, a zupa Tremella podawana w termosie to miły dodatek. W hotelu są dwa duże psy, które są bardzo grzeczne, nie szczekają ani nie biegają. Stosunek jakości do ceny jest dobry. Jedyne, co zauważyłem, to niestabilny internet w moim pokoju i niedomykająca się zasłona.

I had a wonderful and comfortable stay at Yintang. Driver was on time for pick up at airport and Abu helped with my luggages upon arrival. The drive up was a bit rocky as its uphill however there is a small alley which connects Yintang to Shuhe town in less than 5 mins. There were also rose cake and tea before checking in to the room. Abu was very nice to upgrade my room as well. It was on the 1st floor behind the pool , very nice and quiet. I liked the location of Yintang as compared to staying in Dayan ancient town as its way too crowded and noisy. Everything in the room was clean and there were amenities like mouth wash , clothes detergent, wet tissues , toothpick and eye mask for sleeping. There was a groupchat via wechat where Abu and his team were always so helpful and remind that there was afternoon tea , night soup and turn up/down service. Breakfast was delicious and full of variety. Abu was very responsive and helped me alot during my stay example introducing me to buy tea and with other queries. I am very pleased with Abu's top notch service along with his team. I will definitely recommend Yintang to my family and friends when they visit Lijiang. I would also want to come back to Yintang again next time. Thumbs up for Abu !
