"Been going to this place for many years and always enjoyed it. A revisit after quite a while with friends for lunch found the Eagle on a bad day. Same great drinking place full of atmosphere and a welcoming fire. Service informal, friendly and efficient. Great selection of beers. Cost and characterful rooms. But all the food was disappointing. The fish was badly cooked and not thawed properly. The chips were soggy and tasteless. The pies were famous for the wrong reasons . In short we must have gone on a bad day although Friday lunches would tend to be busy. After several five star reviews in the past, we departed disappointed"
