The Charterhouse

"We have just returned from a fantastic 3 night stay at The Charterhouse B&B and cannot wait to go back. On arrival Lisa gave us a lovely warm welcome and showed us to the Riviera room which was clean, spacious and has lovely sea views. The bed was very comfortable and the mini fridge with fresh milk is a great addition. Location of The Charterhouse is excellent. It’s a 5 minute walk to the local beach (Livermead sands) which if you time the tide right has some great rock pools to explore. A 20 min walk gets you to Abbey Park where there was a great funfair set up and we also had a couple of games at the Jungle Journey Adventure Crazy Golf course. A further 10 min walk and you are in the main harbour resort which has lots of restaurants and bars to choose from. We were also lucky enough to watch an amazing firework display during our stay which took place at Corbyn’s Head just a few minutes walk from The Charterhouse. An 18 minute walk in the other direction takes you through woods and alongside a stream to Cockington Country Park and village which is well worth a visit. The weather was glorious during our stay so we made good use of the pool and outdoor seating on the terrace and in the gardens. The cooked breakfasts were delicious, courtesy of Christophe, and Lisa was the perfect host making sure we were promptly provided with our tea, coffee and toast. The homemade jams were delicious too. We would 100% recommend a stay at The Charterhouse and will definitely be returning."

"A simply Devine hotel with such historical charm  The charismatic entrance foyer draws you into this wonderful exquisite reception area We had the upmost pleasure in staying on New Years Eve  & were greeted with a lovely glass of free champagne in letting the New year in  They also had a really good modern band playing the finest of music in one of their opulent rooms  We would grant this very fine hotel a definite 5 Stars experience  Many thanks"

Yardley Manor Hotel

"We spent 3 nights at The Yardley Manor and it was a very enjoyable experience. The room was clean and had everything needed in it. The bed was very comfortable and we both slept well each night. Although there were other guests in the hotel there was no noise from other rooms. The staff were very helpful and guided us to an appropriate parking spot on site. They explained the key card system and how breakfast worked. Breakfast was wonderful with continental and cooked options available. The Griffin bar was a great place to wind down the evening after spending the day sightseeing. If we ever return to Torquay we will definitely stay again. "

Coastal Waters (Hotel Barton)

"We recently stopped here for 4 nights & thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Raj the owner just couldn't do enough for you & he alone makes this place rate so highly. I would honestly give this place a 4.5/5 rather than the given 4, but I think it would be unfair to others that fully merit 5 stars. The hotel is so well situated - just a 5 minutes walk from the harbour. Parking could be a slight issue, but Raj fitted us in by the back door & we never had a problem. We had 2 single rooms, that were a bit small & lacked a view, but they were well equipped with good showers, toilet & complimentary toiletries plus tea, coffee, biscuits & water. The place was very clean. The bedding was excellent & we slept very well. Breakfast was lovely. Complimentary cereals, juices & fruit were followed by a good Full English. The coffee was to die for & Raj was often there chatting & re-filling my coffee well after breakfast should have ended!! Thanks to Raj for a great welcome & we hope to catch up with you again soon.
