"I have to rave about this hotel! Self-check-in and self-check-out. The room was huge, and I especially want to praise the mattress – it was the perfect firmness, not too soft or too hard, and didn't sag my back! It was fantastic!! Although the room was small, the little table was a thoughtful touch!! The room was very clean, and the bathroom was also quite spacious. Overall, it was a great hotel!! The breakfast was also excellent; I ate my fill!! Although the window couldn't be opened, the view of the entire city was beautiful!! I went to Ueda because of the films *Sanada Maru* and *Shichiriko*, and those scenes still deeply moved me!! I will definitely stay here again next time I visit!!!"

"Nie zdaliśmy sobie sprawy, że zarezerwowaliśmy pokój na niewłaściwą datę, dopóki nie otrzymaliśmy powiadomienia od agenta. Na szczęście Kashiwaya Honten zaoferowała nam zniżkę na naszą nową rezerwację, która była bardzo przemyślana. Wreszcie przebyliśmy jedną noc w głównym pokoju budynku. Była bardzo wygodna, czysta i pięknie zaprojektowanalepiej niż oficjalne zdjęcia. Mieliśmy dobry nocny sen i naprawdę cieszyliśmy się w pokoju onsen. Dodatkowo doceniliśmy prywatny 40-minute onsen na parterze głównego budynku. Każdy pracownik, od wejścia do wewnątrz budynku, był bardzo przyjazny. Hotel jest również przyjazny dla angielskiego. Pan Yamauchi płynnie porozumiał się z nami po angielsku przez e-mail przed naszym pobytem. Pani, która nas witała, wprowadziła pokój i zaoferowała nam obiad w pokoju, również mogła mówić po angielsku. Jedyną skargą, którą mamy, jest posiłek. Nie było źle, ale uważamy, że można to poprawić."

They provide a shuttle service, so please ask them. Since it's located in a forest-like area, ants and spiders tend to get into the room. "In October 2019, when the typhoon had a big impact on Nagano, I was planning to go from Kusatsu Onsen to Bessho Onsen, but it was canceled (I was offered a glass of wine this time). I rebooked this inn for the first time in 4 years. Reviews are mixed: black phone, old, cold, no hot water. The room is a Kyoto room, so it's small in a Kanto style, but the lintel, nagaoshi, and wall features are more elaborate than they look. I don't really like eating in my room. The food was a good amount and included matsutake mushrooms. The bar counter in the lobby has also been transformed into a reading area for the owner, and the garden is lush enough to remind you of the beauty of yesteryear. The hot water is good, but the water is sulfur and acidic, so the faucets here and there are broken, but that's just as the reviews say. There are two parking spaces in front of the inn, and the rest will probably be parked in the hot spring parking lot. I like the fact that it's a family-run business, so there's no annoying customer service, and the host and landlady's natural customer service."

"the bathroom had an overwhelming plastic smell. almost every japanese bathroom i've stayed at has been mostly plastic, but this 1 reeked. i was so lightheaded from microplastics, i felt short of breath and was blowing my nose the whole time, the whole next day, and i've had a massive headache. plastic is very difficult to remove from the body so for your health, choose a different hotel. other than the plastic health concern, it seemed clean, but it doesn't balance out when there are clean hotels that won't pollute your lungs with a bunch of plastic. also, there was constant noise through the window, i guess from air conditioner exhaust fans. this can cause tinnitus. breakfast buffet was great but it's a 2 minute walk down the road. when the salmon was eaten, they put out mackerel. it was good service overall."
