LucywanThe Yunshuilanting Hot Spring Hotel is excellent. I traveled to Changbai Mountain with my elders and stayed in a Deluxe Twin Room with two large beds. The room was incredibly spacious and comfortable. Both the indoor and outdoor environments of the hotel are beautiful, and it's not far from various attractions, yet very quiet. The transportation is convenient, making it easy to get anywhere. The hotel staff are very kind, attentive, and enthusiastic. They offer an outdoor hot spring and free parking. There's also a fantastic barbecue restaurant right next door! 😄 Their breakfast is also good. Highly recommended.

HuangchuanliurushiWe booked a two-bedroom suite for two adults and two children, which was very convenient. We could even play in the living room at night. Breakfast at North Shore Restaurant, just left of the hotel lobby entrance, was also quite good. The butler service throughout our stay was generally satisfactory, however, we weren't informed in a timely manner that the slide facility was closed for maintenance. This led to us climbing for over half an hour with our kids to the slide's starting point early in the morning, only to be told it wasn't open yet – talk about despair… They later compensated us with slide passes, but these didn't include priority access to skip the lines, neither at the top nor the bottom! They also misled us into believing the ride line would be faster than the cable car line at the bottom. In reality, the cable car took 45 minutes, but we waited an hour and a half for the slide on the mountain, right in the middle of the day. We were exhausted and starving, feeling like we were on the verge of heatstroke. If we had known about such long queues, we would have rather foregone the slide passes than wait in line. We had four hours; couldn't we have done something better with our time?! We traveled all this way to the resort just to queue… Later, the manager offered us afternoon tea and buffet passes, and while their attitude was sincere, our overall good mood for the trip was significantly dampened. What was supposed to be a relaxing day at the hotel on our last day turned out to be the most exhausting. Sigh…

Excellent! Blue Horizon has been around since I was a kid, and even after all these years, it still maintains its 5-star standard. It feels like staying in a Nordic forest. The restaurant offers wild mountain vegetables with dipping sauce – the kind only true Changbai Mountain locals would recognize. You absolutely must try it! However, I'd suggest they make the portion sizes smaller; there's too much, and it'd be a shame to waste those delicious wild vegetables. The complimentary activities and attractions are also fantastic and definitely worth visiting!

SONG JIANG BONANZA WINNING HOTEL — From Smoke Signals to Sacred Silence
Arrival & First Sniff
This old dog finally flopped down in Jilin City, relieved to rest my paws at the grandly named Song Jiang Bonanza Winning Hotel. “Winning,” I thought—until my non-smoking room greeted me with a stale tobacco haze. One whiff and I nearly cancelled the stay on the spot.
Room Rescue
Cue Mr Hong Dejian—calm, English-speaking, and clutching the keys to redemption. He patiently showed me alternative rooms until we found one that didn’t smell like a poker night. Had I left, I would’ve missed what came next.
Comfort Food = Home
Dinner delivered a miracle: stewed chicken with potatoes and mushrooms. One bite and—boom—mummy’s cooking. After days on the road, I finally found food in China that tasted like home. Tail wagging resumed.
Care Beyond the Call
Mr Hong returned with a portable heater, pointed out city landmarks, and even taught me how to take a non-reflective photo (yes, this dog learns fast). His easy friendliness softened the edges of dirty window panes and mostly Mandarin-only staff. I even showed him the ink-black towel after wiping the window—evidence, not barking.
Menu Meltdown & A Win
At the restaurant, I was handed a Chinese-only menu after saying I don’t speak Mandarin. I hit the roof. To their credit, reception listened: I received a call from the lady boss, and the issue was acknowledged. Then a hero appeared—the restaurant lady, who patiently translated dish names so I could choose lunch and dinner without guesswork. Gold bone earned.
City Interlude: Jilin Catholic Church
Between meals and meetings, I visited Jilin Catholic Church (吉林耶稣圣心堂)—a quiet pause from hotel hiccups. The church offered a moment of stillness, a reminder that even on a bumpy stay, the city holds pockets of grace.
Logistics That Worked
Back at the desk, the reception lady manager efficiently arranged my transport to Wusong Island—quick, competent, and reassuring.
Breakfast & The Fine Print
Breakfast surprised me in the best way: healthy, balanced, a thoughtful mix of local and Western dishes. One final bone to chew—early booking didn’t pay off as prices dropped later. A truly Winning Hotel would honour the lower rate at check-in.
Verdict
Despite communication bumps, this is a solid winter hideout: good Songhua River views, comforting food, and fast service when it counts. It really does take one good sheep—thank you, Mr Hong—to dim the rest of the flaws.

ZhumengchanglaoBefore I list all the issues encountered during this trip, I'd like to commend the following staff members (whose full names I unfortunately don't know): Butler Xiao Song, Duty Manager Xiao Gao on August 6th, and Duty Manager Xiao Wang on August 7th. I was satisfied with their service attitude and efficiency; my dissatisfaction lies with the hotel's management and some other personnel. Below, I will truthfully recount my experience:
1. **Check-in on August 5th**: We checked into the hotel before 3 PM. Out of three rooms, only one twin room was ready. We went for dinner and returned around 4:30 PM, only to be told another room was still not ready! After urging, it was cleaned within 20 minutes, allowing everyone to finally check in.
2. **Incident on August 6th**: After returning from an outing, my wife slipped and slightly twisted her ankle in the room. The reason was a large amount of water on the floor (photos will be attached), clearly left after cleaning and not dried promptly. Upon immediate complaint, the duty manager arranged an upgrade to a suite (a serious issue, but the solution was acceptable).
3. **The Most Serious Issue**: Around 8 PM on the evening of the 6th, the air conditioning in the suite felt ineffective. Maintenance was called, and we were told the AC was fine, just that the room was large and it would cool down eventually. By 10:30 PM, it was still ineffective. When we requested another check, we were informed that the AC in this room (3052) was indeed faulty! It couldn't be repaired that day! Given how late it was, I only asked the duty manager to quickly arrange another problem-free room so we could rest, and I didn't pursue further complaints. Since I don't know the name of this maintenance worker, I can't name him, but his behavior was appalling! The hotel should bear full responsibility for this.
I'd also like to state that I am a Marriott Platinum Elite member and usually enjoy staying at Marriott brand hotels. However, due to the points mentioned above, my experience this stay was extremely poor! This is not the service standard or staff quality expected from a five-star hotel! For all these issues, I reserve the right to continue complaining and seek compensation. I urge both Trip.com and Marriott Group to take these issues seriously and provide timely feedback!

Traveling during the off-peak season, the hotel was excellent, and the front desk was incredibly responsible, taking care of everything. The hotel even has its own shuttle service with drivers who pick you up and drop you off wherever you need to go, and they even help you bargain! Much appreciated. Soaking in the hot springs while it snowed, then hitting the slopes at 8:30 AM – it was a fantastic experience.

Guest UserThe decoration looks quite new, but it's a bit rough. The shower room leaks a little. The breakfast is relatively simple. The waiters are very nice and there is a washing machine and dryer. There is no charge for parking anywhere in Hunchun except at the high-speed rail station. There are a lot of Russians in the hotel, which is quite harmonious. When going to Fangchuan, it is necessary to first visit the Zhanggufeng Incident Memorial Hall, which is helpful for visiting Fangchuan Scenic Area. At a glance, you can see the train from Russia to North Korea. Of course, if you have time, it would be a good idea to take a look at the various lifestyles of North Koreans.

Before the kids head into their final year of high school, we decided to take them on a trip. We've stayed at Xipo before, but this time we chose Beipo Endouli, which is located in the commercial district. After checking in, a butler helped us with our luggage. The room was clean and tidy, and breakfast was very varied. In the evening, there was a fireworks show at the scenic area. For meals, you can eat in Endouli or head to Erdaobaihe Town, which isn't far and offers many choices, especially Korean ethnic cuisine. Overall, even if you don't go out, staying at the hotel is very comfortable. The hotel also provides a free shuttle service to and from the high-speed rail station.

1. Pick-up and drop-off service is available, which is super convenient!
2. The bunk beds were my kids' favorite! They said they want to come back to this hotel specifically because of them next time.
3. The sofa by the window spans the entire length of the room, so we could neatly line up all our clothes, which was incredibly handy.
4. The front desk staff and butler were incredibly responsive and accommodating. 100 points!
5. Perhaps because of the bunk beds, I noticed there were always two cleaning staff members, which is a big plus.
6. The evening activities were fantastic every day. After skiing, we'd soak in the hot springs, and right after dinner, we'd catch the iron flower show. The iron flowers were even more beautiful than fireworks.
7. The instructor was excellent. My 6-year-old was able to ski on their own after just two hours of one-on-one lessons.
Overall, we were extremely satisfied with our trip to Changbai Mountain. We'll definitely be back next year!

Guest UserFive-star review! Jianshuihe Hot Spring Hotel is absolutely worth staying at. The hot spring water quality is excellent, and the rooms are clean and spacious. The private hot spring design is a huge plus. The service is warm and attentive, and the breakfast is abundant. Right outside, you'll find the beautiful '美人松' (a type of pine tree, likely a local landmark), and transportation to all the Changbai Mountain attractions is convenient. Soaking in the hot springs after hiking is incredibly relaxing – it's definitely my top choice for accommodation, highly recommended!
