Hotele Romantic w: Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan

We were only here for one night but the location is perfect as it’s right at Kumamoto Station, so it couldn't be easier to get to, and having the Amu Plaza mall right there for shopping and food was so convenient. Being on the higher floors, the views of the city are amazing. The rooms feel very modern and spacious, but the free onsen (public bath) was the best part. It was definitely a great way to relax at the end of the day. It was handy having convenience stores, restaurants and a mall just a few steps away.

Great stay! Clean! Love the free amenities which included soup, tea and toiletries. Microwave available too. Only downside is that the carpark is 2000 per night which is expensive. Other option is a 5 mins walk to nearby for 1200 per night for parking 2pm-12pm the next day. Remember to inform the person at the carpark they you want multiple entries to get a multiple entry card!

Wonderful hotel 🏨 ♥️ 👌 We feel it's a real 5 stars hotel; from the excellent service, the rooms and on to the dinning room, and of course the onsen, everything and everyone were just perfect! We got a room facing the garden, forest and mountains and it was just great waking up to these views in the mornings. The experience of food was excellent, both at breakfast and dinner... The staff here go out if their way to make sure you have what you need, and the onsen was the best one I have seen in Japan so far; it has several hot baths, indoor and outdoor, and dry sauna. We were extremely happy we booked this place ahead of time as it was fully booked when we arrived and there wasn't even availability to upgrade, even though it wasn't needed as the room was great already. This hotel is really nice and conveniently located right on top of Sakura Machi mall, so there are plenty of food options and shops for shopping. Right across the street is a pedestrian street, which is great for walking around. It’s not too crowded, so the atmosphere is quite relaxed. There’s also a major bus stop right downstairs, which makes it super convenient—especially if you don’t have a car. If you’re traveling between cities, this is likely a main stop you’ll pass through. For those who drive, you can find parking nearby. The hotel may offer parking discounts at certain locations, but I’m not entirely sure which ones. The hotel itself is beautiful, modern, and smells really nice—feels new and well-maintained. Amenities are quite complete as well. The bed and pillows were just okay, slightly leaning towards the uncomfortable side. However, the bathroom is excellent, with a separate standing shower and a small bathtub. The room I got was also quite cute, with a small sofa area, which was a nice touch.

We booked two rooms for our family of four as each room is rather small. We stayed three nights and enjoyed ourselves. Car park is round the corner so its convenient. Hotel gave us a voucher for discounted parking. The hotel is very central and convenient with a MacDonalds right downstairs.

Przyzwoity pokój i ładnie wyposażony; Niesamowite miejsce na jedzenie, transport, zakupy, tramwaj. Dosłownie 7-11 na kroku drzwi. Public bath was amazing, nawet z łazienką na zewnątrz; Dostępny salon do pracy (po 3pm) i zapewnia napoje i dobre wifi; Profesjonalna obsługa i postawa od hotelu. Zostaniesz jeszcze 10/10

One of the many ryokans in the area. Picked this ryokan due to the location to the bus station, but the hotel did pick up and drop off us at the bus station. The dinner was satisfying, and as we are not very big eaters, we were so full by the end. The stay comes with private onsen which requires reservation. Hospitality of the staffs are great.

This is the best hotel in Kurokawa! 1. Stuff is kindly meet you, explain everything and help as well as it possible. 2. Ryokan has 6(!) private bathes with different style. No extra payment,, no reservation. You can available status on your TV. During my staying there was at least one ready for use, no time all of them was using. 3. Water. Just perfect, has a right temperature and composition. Just put yourself into the bath and feel relaxed just since that second. 4. Rooms. Clean and fresh. 5. Open-air bath is cool to, for me a bit too hot. And I was the only one who use it during the dinner time. 6. I had only breakfast, but it is service in private room in dinner hall. Very delicious with various of dishes. 7. The hotel located at two sides of the river. Travelers could enjoy a scenic view from the bridge.

高評価だったのでとても楽しみにしていたのですが、夜ご飯も物足りなくて、朝ごはんもちょっと残念でした。 おかずも似たりよったりで、煮物系が多かったです。*などもあったら良かったと思いました。 食事処が掘りこたつでしたが、温度が入っていなくて寒かったです。 平日だったのでお得に泊まれたとは思ったのですが、金額も1人25000円以上になったので、その金額を出すのならばもう少し満足度が欲しかったですね。 本当に期待していたので、辛口のコメントですみません。 お部屋のお風呂は良かったので、料理をもう少し。。。と思いました。

An absolutely wonderful experience.
The staff at the ryokan were incredibly polite and always ready to help with anything we needed. Upon check-in, we were provided with traditional attire, pajamas, tabi slippers, bath amenities, and a small welcome treat with matcha and coffee. We also asked at the front desk if they could give us a ride to the bus stop after check-out, and they kindly said yes, of course. 
Our room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated. At first, we were planning to explore several other local onsens, but after experiencing the ones at the ryokan, we felt completely satisfied. There are separate baths for hotel guests (men’s and women’s), baths open to both guests and visitors (also divided by gender), as well as a private onsen. One of the onsens also has a sauna.
The traditional dinner and breakfast were both impressive—delicious and very generous in portion.
The surrounding grounds are stunning, perfect for peaceful walks. This ryokan is a bit further from the main cluster of inns, but that was exactly what we wanted—to enjoy quiet walking.
At night, our futons were laid out for us, adding to the authentic experience. The only reason I deducted one star is the very bright green light on the ceiling that stays on all night and can’t be turned off or covered. I didn’t have a sleep mask with me, and the ryokan didn’t provide one, so I had a sleepless night. It was quite unpleasant.
That said, I still highly recommend this ryokan—it’s an unforgettable place to stay.
