The hotel seems still under renovation. Flies were flying around in the room and could not sleep well at night. Towel heating rack in the toilet is partially rusty. SPA facilities has not been used, but seems not bad. Suggest to extend the closing time till 8 PM or 9PM to facilitate visitors after the sightseeing around Lake District.
Rarely write reviews but really love this lovely hotel
The room is spacious, comfortable and clean
Breakfast is also delicious.
Service is super intimate and thoughtful
Always cost-effective, if you have the opportunity to really recommend to experience.
Although you can get timely feedback at night
I’ve booked Low Wood Bay a few times but this was the first time using trip.com - we got an excellent deal and the customer service was brilliant from both trip.com and Low Wood Bay. There had been heavy snowfall so things were a bit up in the air with whether we would be coming or not due to road closures but the staff were brilliant. Thankfully we did get to come for the night and we’d booked the spa the following day. It is one of the best spas I have been to. The views are stunning. The hotel itself is really lovely, fantastic location, extremely clean and all the staff were super friendly. Will definitely be coming to stay again and can’t recommend enough for a relaxing break.
Upon arrival there was nobody at the front desk so I waited. The woman I was somewhat greated by was far from pleasant and didn’t seem like she wanted to be there at all. Nothing was explained and no information leaflet for me to read through in my own time. When given my room key I started walking through the lobby but couldn’t see any signs for my room number. Went back to the desk to ask where to go for my room and was told ‘just follow it round’.
Very unhelpful and unwelcoming, not sure this lady should be at the face of the hotel.
Plus side, room was beautiful and well kept/clean. I was also lake side so got to watch the sunrise with my morning cuppa. Very refreshing views.
£200 for a basic room for one night was a bit on the pricey side for me, however it was nice all the same. A few of the photos of the basic room are misleading. The photos show a four post double bed which is not the case. We found out later this is actually an executive room despite it being labeled basic.
We found out that the hotel location is accessible by bus from Oxenholme train station (despite being told the opposite) and has a great view of beautiful fields. Food in the hotel is good but expensive... My eyes nearly popped out their sockets when I saw the £8.00 charge just for the tiniest amount of table bread. I'd say this was probably the reason the restaurant was empty despite being told we need to book a table due to its popularity. Swimming pool and steam room are average for the price.
Staff are friendly and changed our room to a double bed room free of charge after mistakenly putting us in a twin bedroom.
It's a Relais & Châteaux hotel, but this was the only room available when I made the reservation. I didn't expect it to be so small. If you can afford it, book a larger one. It's comfortable to stay in and there's a Michelin restaurant downstairs.

GGuest UserThe hotel is very beautiful, the breakfast is delicious, especially the mushrooms, the taste is good, the bathroom heating is very hot, very close to the town, it is very convenient to walk to orrest head.
KKristinMWThis was the second time my husband and I stayed at this luxurious new resort style hotel in/near Windermere. It was part of a longer trip, and again we stayed in the posh Winander Suites keyed access building. Breakfast is great as you get to eat from both the breakfast buffet, and also order hot food from the menu. The staff here are always 10 out of 10 excellent for both in the spa and the hotel itself. A couple of them even remembered us from the year prior! It's great having so many dining and drinking options on site... one never really needs to leave. I really enjoy the keyed access for the Winander and additional for the room hallways. There is parking on site and a guard at the gate. I know we will continue to visit here for many years to come!

GGuest UserPros: Excellent hotel location.
Cons: The facilities are quite dated. There's no exhaust fan in the bathroom, power outlets are scarce, and the hairdryer only works if you continuously hold down a button. The hangers are fixed and can't be easily removed from the closet. Service was mediocre; most staff seemed unsmiling, with the exception of a couple of very young employees.
QQiqiIt happened to be a wedding when I went there. The lobby was full of enthusiastic and cheerful foreigners. There was a dog on duty at the front desk, and it was very well behaved. If you bring children, you need to pay an additional 30 yuan per dog. This, uh... it would be good without this fee. The free buffet breakfast on the second day was good. After ordering coffee, the waiter brought it. There was self-service milk and drinking water in the corridor. Parking is free, and the parking lot is quite large. Basically, you don’t have to worry about having no place, because even if the wedding was full of people the day before, there are still a few parking spaces. Although it is gloomy, rainy, windy and snowy every day in the UK, we saw the long-lost starry sky here.
GGuest UserThe hotel experience was quite poor. We checked in at around 4 o'clock that day. Even the front desk receptionist couldn't find the room we were given. After checking in, we found that the two double beds we booked were actually one double bed and two simple single beds. We went to the front desk to negotiate and were told that the rooms were full and there was a solution at the second level. At 10 o'clock in the evening, when we were ready to go to bed, we found that one of the simple beds had collapsed. When we turned over the sheets, we found that three wooden bars were missing. We went to the front desk to negotiate again. The night manager said that he was only the restaurant manager and could only add a mattress first and solve it the next day. As a result, the simple bed was only replaced with a wire bed the next day, which was not as good as the mattress the night before. The next night, we went to the bar on the first floor to consume with the 5-pound voucher for not cleaning the room. After ordering, we found that the bill price was different from the price we had just arrived. After checking, it was indeed a problem with the bar's price system, but when the bartender came back with the menu, he threw the menu next to us, and his expression when delivering the meal was also quite unhappy. Hypocritical British apology. This hotel is not worth the price at all.
JJunjunOverall, it's pretty good. The decor has a bit of an American style, giving it a warm and cozy feel. The view from the window is lovely, offering a direct look at the lake. The hotel restaurant is right downstairs, and we saw many foreigners sitting there enjoying drinks. The town itself is small; you can explore most of it within a 15-minute walk, which is very convenient. There's no mini-fridge in the room, but you can ask the front desk for ice, and they'll provide a large bucket.
KK1R4N_2024The hotel was hospitable with very friendly staff however location wise it was quite far from the places I wantes to visit however it was close by to the town centre with many halal restaurant suchs as lake raj. Overall it was a pleasant stay!!!
