„An attractive hotel in a former imperial complex (a library or something like that) offering large, clean rooms. It's up on the side of a hill but taxis/rideshare will take you to the front door. Also it's very close to the town center and is a short ride to the temples that are of interest in Chengde. They have a decent breakfast at the onsite restaurant, and a dinner service featuring local dishes that are supposed to be similar to what an emperor might have eaten. So you can dine like an emperor, for a fee. The large deer roaming the grounds stare at your with the big, sad eyes, obviously looking for a handout, but don't fall for it as there's plenty of grass. There was some construction going on, seems the buildings are being refurbished, but it did not really interfere with our stay. Signs in English and English-speaking staff at the front desk.”

„I recently stayed at the Venice Waterworld Hotel in Shijiazhuang and, unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. The hotel feels quite outdated and in need of renovation. The rooms were dark and old, with furnishings that seemed worn and tired. One of the biggest issues was the air conditioning—it was old and lacked a proper thermostat, making it difficult to regulate the temperature. Additionally, smoking is permitted throughout the hotel, which was a major downside for me as a non-smoker. The smell of tobacco was pervasive in the hallways and common areas, making the stay less comfortable. Breakfast lacked food for its guests. They were not being topped up according to the people who were in the restaurant. While the location may be convenient for some, the overall condition and policies of the hotel make it a poor choice for travelers who prefer clean, modern, and smoke-free accommodations. If I return to Shijiazhuang, I will definitely look for a different hotel. Rating: ★★☆☆☆ (2/5) – Below Average, Needs Improvement”

„Our stay at Yaoji Caotang was a truly delightful surprise. The guesthouse is located right inside the Hetou Old Street scenic area, and the room card allows for easy access in and out. Stepping out, you're immediately immersed in the old street, enjoying the evening lights and scenery – it's incredibly convenient for sightseeing, saving you the hassle of traveling back and forth. The ambiance is elegant, with a refined Chinese style, offering a peaceful retreat amidst the bustle. The room itself was clean and spacious, with comfortable bedding and meticulous attention to detail. We especially appreciated the thoughtful addition of a foot bath tub and traditional Chinese herbal foot soak packets; after exploring the old street, a relaxing foot soak instantly melted away our fatigue. The staff were warm and attentive, and the breakfast offered a rich variety of delicious options, with service that was both meticulous and heartwarming. This guesthouse is perfect for both a relaxing getaway and family trips. If you're visiting Hetou Old Street, this place comes highly recommended.”

„This hotel is the closest to Hetou Old Street, just a 1-minute walk to its entrance. Despite its proximity to the scenic area, the rooms are surprisingly quiet with excellent soundproofing. The breakfast spread is fantastic, featuring fresh prawns and a wide variety of pastries. The front desk staff were incredibly enthusiastic. I'll definitely stay here again.”

„I don't normally bother to write reviews, but this place is truly deserving of one. Our stay at Anaya was amazing to say the least. The place was so beautiful and serene, rivaling many of the luxury ryokans in Japan but with their own modern twist. We stayed in the queen room, and it’s fairly simple but more than adequate and comfortable. The in-room drinks and snacks were delicious, and they provided an additional special treat each day, which was an experience on its own. There wasn't a television, but we never felt that there was a need for one. It was a place where you can truly focus on unwinding and take things slow, but when needed, the Wi-Fi speed is sufficient for streaming on your own devices. The hotel is unique where you can just do everything within their compounds without needing to travel anywhere else. We really loved the Japanese bookstore, which is a must-visit, and spend some time admiring the garden next to it. They provide activities as well, so you will never feel like there is nothing to do. The spas are also highly recommended, which in fact warrants a trip all on its own even if you do not stay at the hotel. One of the spas is a re-purposed factory, and it's a truly unique experience which will appeal to architecture enthusiasts. Food was a little pricey, but you have a lot of options, and the ones we had were great. They even had their own provision shop for you to stock up on snacks and drinks. One of the main factors that truly elevated our experience was the exceptional service from Zhi Hui. She went above and beyond to share her personal contact in order to make sure we were well taken care of, answering our questions promptly and making arrangements for us. She even followed up with us after our departure to make sure we arrived at our next destination safely. The other staff around the hotel, including the restaurants, were also very friendly and helpful. There was even a sweet young lady selling what they harvested from the mountains as well as small snack stores, one of which was operated by a very friendly lady selling Japanese-style desserts. Our interactions with the people all felt really genuine and sincere. The experience wouldn't have been so wonderful if it weren't for our very pleasant experience with the people working in and around the hotel. They normally use a multi-seater buggy to ferry guests around, but when we were caught in the rain, they actually arranged a car to pick us up instead. Anaya Lanya Hotel is simply extraordinary, and we cannot recommend it enough.”

„Location wise, its at the centre of the town. A convenience store is with 3 min walk and restaurant just across the street. Breakfast is abundant and has a lot of variety. The onsen is what my boy looks forward to. It's gd to relax after a day of skiing. Would be great if they offer a hotel shuttle to nearby ski centres as its difficult to call taxi to the ski centre every morning.”

„2nd time there and as usual, love the room and most importantly the friendly staff. Went extra mile to help get medication for me when I need it and tried their very best to accommodate to request. We had to change our room… see below. One thing to note, the hotel don’t turn on the room AC during the period we stayed. (Note: it is not the hotel problem, whole of Chongli is the same) Although Fulong was cooling during the night and early mornings, the afternoon was very warm and the room (on 2nd level) is very stuffy throughout the day, as there wasn’t any ventilation. As there is no window on the 2nd floor, we had to change our room to 2 different units. Overall still love this place. The friendly staff helps overcome the AC problem.”

„This hotel has both prominent pros and cons: First, the pros: 1. Located in Hetou Old Street, it's quiet yet central, with an excellent location. You can return to your room anytime you get tired from exploring, no matter how late you stay out. 2. The hygiene is five-star standard! The housekeeping staff work incredibly hard; the entire floor is milky white, and they have to squat to wipe it clean! After eating fruit in the room, I made sure to clean up the juice myself. 3. A variety of free snacks, fruits, and beverages are provided with great sincerity and high quality, not just for show. Now, the clear cons: 1. The hotel's room types are very confusing. The same company has rooms spread across different guesthouses, and there's a big difference in room size and amenities. Guests from the宿集 (Suju) cannot use their key cards to enter and exit the scenic area, even though they check in at the same front desk and eat breakfast in the same area. This is very inconvenient. The welcome fruits were also just brought over in a paper bag. 2. The entire hotel has almost no accessibility for people with disabilities. My elderly parents and children booked a twin room, but it turned out to be far from the main building and had no elevator. My parents have mobility issues, and it was raining those two days, which made it extremely inconvenient. 3. Since there's no restaurant, breakfast is served by portion. Although the dishes are plentiful, half of them are cold by the time they reach the table, which significantly reduces their taste. 4. The soundproofing in the room is poor. I heard a machine humming very early, and only on the second day did I realize there was a laundry room next door. Footsteps outside the door sounded as clear as if they were inside the room, which was quite startling! Based on my actual experience, it was a mixed bag. I hope Hetou Old Street thrives and the hotel continues to improve!”
