„This is our first visit to Ranau. Booked the room based on the high reviews and am really happy with the decision. The location was far end but the driving was nice because you could see a lot of greenery along the way. No nearby restaurants but the hotel does have a restaurant where you can dine in or have room service. Breakfast was included. Should not miss taking breakfast as you can really enjoy nature early in the morning. However, a ticket to the park was not included. You can purchase it at the gate at the entrance and it was easy. It is nice to have a little hike in the morning after breakfast. If you are lucky, you get to see the Raflesia flower. We are not lucky 😌 maybe next time. Overall the experience was fantastic. On top of it, the reception staff and all other staff were all friendly upon checking in, checking out, and throughout our stay. The room was spacious for our family of four. Cleanliness is remarkable. Highly recommended!”

„The location is perfect and the check in/ out process is very smooth. There’s only one problem that annoyed us was the doors and the windows in our room caused a very loud noise whenever strong wind outside. Perhaps we stayed in Level 7, lower level might won’t face this kind of noises I think? But overall is good for the cleanliness. The room environment also good since they refurbished their hotel. The view from our room are superb!”

„for the price of RM130+/nite for a room of 3pax I would say its really really worth it, nothing fancy but room is decent enough for me and my parents, water heater is workimg well as the weather there is really cold plus the rainy day, tv aint working but not a big deal as its time for family bonding😁 basic amenities available with clean towels, lots of parking available, free wifi available but was not that stable. one thing good bout this place is the location, located right by the main road heading Kundasang town, and very convenient a restaurant situated just below of the hotel, serving NO PORK dishes, general food is and price is reasonable👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻”

„My partner and I had a lovely 1N stay in the Hill Lodge. The experience of waking up to the breathtaking view of Mount K made the entire trip worthwhile! The buffet breakfast was also excellent and a great start to the morning. We had requested a small birthday effort. While nothing was prepared, we don't blame the staff at all for any potential oversight (we're definitely happy to pay for additional charges, too!). Our only minor suggestion for future guests is that it would be great to be informed at c/in if a special request cannot be accommodated. Overall, it was a memorable stay, and we highly recommend it for the incredible mountain scenery!”

„Это потрясающее место! В номере 2 кровати и диванчин,немного все уставшее. Но с учетом расположения все компенсируется. Есть насыпная парковка для машин. Можно побродить по чайной плантации,рядом классное кафе с разными блюдами с добавлением чая. Ночью слышны гекконы,птицы и т.д. нашему ребенку это было очень не обычно😅”

„July 2024 TL;DR: This place feels more like a meditation centre than a hotel, it will not provide you with supplements. It's a bare room. You need to bring toothbrush&paste and buy drinks somewhere as it is not provided. No tv and fan. No in-house restaurant. There are mosquitoes at the garden near afternoon, and the balcony at night, but there are no insects in the room (family room). In exchange you will get a very clear and vivid Mt Kinabalu view in the near-dawn morning (where there is no mosquito), a working shower with heater, concrete floor that reduces nearby noise, and cold foggy experience. Long: This place is within the fog path so you will get the foggy experience. You can also see Mt. Kinabalu at the right time and it looks quite close (e.g. dawn 6 a.m.). You can even see the electric towers and resthouse, it's that close. Moreover, this place is more like a meditation centre than a hotel. It is visibly run down probably since covid as that is also when the in-house restaurant got closed down. Considering my experience as a recurrent visitor of Kundasang, mosquito has always been the least of my concern. Somehow this place has lots of them. We got bit quite a lot in a short span of time. Undesirable / Cons: -No water kettle, no supplements (water bottle, coffee pack, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.). Porcelain mugs are provided though -No in-house cafe/restaurant but nearby has a few (400 meters at least) -No tv, no fan but cold in general -Quite a lot of mosquito and moths outside at the garden place in the afternoon and at the balcony connecting the 2 buildings at night. There are no electric zapper. -Seems a bit run down at the garden. 2 broken board pieces on the floor for example. -It has no Qibla for muslim people, at least in family room Desirable / Pros: -Big room. Not smelly -Is cement board floor -Big single beds. Not smelly -Clean bed. Fluffy cover. -Water heater is working for family room at least -Relatively clean inside room and at reception. No insects in room. No weird bugs around. -Has a table and chairs in room -Lots of electrical port -Wifi provided by hotel is strong (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz -Very near main road. So good road going towards the hotel -Aki-Aki trail starting point is nearby. Plan to go next time so no experience as of this review This place is not too bad. Not too good either. Personally, I wouldn't place this as my top place for the foggy and view considering other options but I don't mind returning if necessary. It will sure be much much better to highly recommended with much needed renovation and have some methods to deal with those mosquito. p.s. There's a cute puppy that invites you at the entrance. 😂 p.s.s. I saw a greater coucal gliding into the forest in the morning!”

„A small stop in mountain near by the Kinabalu mountain. Very simple hotel, old style. Our night was a bit noisy due to rain, neighbours speaking, some karaoke music somewhere and some baby dogs crying during night. Not our best night during our trip in Malaysia. Small water leak from roof also due to the rain. The breakfast is very simple, and they were not able to cook eggs because sold out... Need to buy some stuff to the small shop like milk etc for our kids.. disappointed on that point. It's ok for one night but we would not do it again.”

„The hotel is a very beautiful and charming place. I booked this room mainly because can see the stunning Golden Mountain view directly at dawn. It gets quite cold at night, and the mornings are pleasantly cool. The restaurant food is good, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The only downsides are that there are a few insects at the mountaintop, which is understandable, and the soundproofing of the room isn’t great—after 10 p.m., noise from people outside can still be heard clearly.”

„Best spot ever if you want to catch a perfect view of Mount Kinabalu in the morning. Best time is from 6am - 8am. WVF also sediakan us breakfast, setanding dgn harga bayaran tapi kenyang dan sedap. The place so peaceful, senyap sambil dgr bunyi air terjun. Jalan menuju ke WVF dihujung jalan hampir ke farmstay agak ke dalam dan susur jalan berbukit, pls extra be careful. Di WVF ada kedai runcit yang serba lengkap ala2 spt watsons hahaha & they also ada sediakan add-on steambot RM25/pax. Harga byrn bilik setanding dgn accommodation & breakfast. Kakak2 receptionist sangat baik dan murah dgn senyuman. 😍”

„The view of Mt Kinabalu from our room was spectacular. The hotel service is good, hotel staff allowed us to check in early. However, that’s pretty much it. The hotel toilet is quite dirty, water in the shower and sink is brownish/ yellowish, and the whole hotel feels very dated and stuck in the 1990s. The road condition towards the hotel is horrendous, in fact the road condition in most parts of Kundasang is terrible. The government really needs to do something about boosting its tourism economy. It is such a beautiful state, it’s a shame that not much love has been given by the government to make it more tourist friendly.”
