"Our short stay at his hotel was excellent. Accomodation was very clean and affordable. Food was amazing at our evening meal and service very good. We were late for breakfast but the staff helped sort something out for us and it was no trouble. Parking right outside in a courtyard."

"On the outside, a crumbling 17th century chateau and on the inside, early 20th century. Currently having a new roof completed but needs a lot of maintenance and modernisation on the inside - treacherous stairs to first floor. Generally rather grubby, including bathrooms … Comfortable and clean bed. Good breakfast, dinner make or may not be available. Excellent general store on site. Friendly and helpful owner."

"A beautiful setting on the banks of the river with lovely walks on the doorstep. Very welcoming owners/staff? and a perfectly nice room. Not very luxurious but clean and adequate. We had a delicious dinner served by friendly people and all in all a very nice place to stay."

"I don't eat burgers and I don't want pancakes for dinner either, so I only had one choice of hot dishes - grilled meat. The food was delivered quickly and was OK, but nothing more. The Creme Brûlée ordered for dessert was very good for that. The prices were average."

"Much better management oversight of how this hotel operates is required if is to be somewhere where I would stay again. The room I was shown to had not been cleaned properly. Dust could be seen on all of the flat surfaces (you could write your name in it, it was that thick in places) and I couldn't put any of my clothes on the wardrobe shelves or coat hangers. In addition, there was black & red mould around the bath taps and shower screen areas. When I spoke to reception desk staff, I was offered another room. However this was in just the same unclean condition, I stayed where I was and cleaned the dust off myself! These are issues that should not be happening in any hotel, irrespective of the price it charges for its rooms and can easily be addressed if the hotel management walked around the property from time to time and check things over. This is obviously not happening here. No mention of these matters was made at check-our and no apologies on behalf of the management were proffered. Oh boy!!!!....never again."

"Great location, just across the street from the SNCF train station. Walking distance to the historical part of the city. The room is small, I booked a single bed, but it was everything I needed. I don't need a fancy place, just clean, comfortable & quiet. This hotel met my needs. The receptionist was so helpful and was quick to respond ,via email, to any questions I had."

Ibis Laval le Relais d'Armor

"The staff at the hotel were great but this is not an organisation I will ever visit again. We had booked 8 rooms as part of a trip through France however one of our party unexpectedly died just before our trip. All the other hotels we had booked did not charge for the cancelled room but Ibis / Accor refused to refund the room charge. All the costs refunded have been returned to my friend’s widow and my fellow travellers have funded the Ibis charge as we believe it is the right thing to do. This type of organisation has absolutely no compassion and I nor any of my fellow travellers will ever use Accor hotels again."

"Advert/website deceptive. This NOT the quiet hotel surrounded in quiet grounds expected. It is situated between two very busy roads into Laval - the leafy/ivy fronted picture is deceptive. We arrived at 5pm ( it was dark) and the hotel entrance was not illuminated (so it seemed closed). Upon entry we were hit by a strong, most unpleasant sewage ( yes sewage !) smell. No lift and our room was on the first floor, no help with cases and awkward split level with WC up two steps off the bedroom and shower/ washroom up one step. The shower was OK but (as with most hotels) no grab/handrails for older doddery people and useless soap/shower gel dispenser. The sink cubicle had no towel rails nor enough space to put out toilet bags etc. The bed was a small double - but good lighting. The only positive feature of our stay was the restaurant and food which was EXCELLENT. VV good quality food, service and staff - nearly Michelin standards and extremely good value. We had €22 menu - starter, main course and dessert plus G&T, glass red wine and coffee - total cost €62 - v v good value. Breakfast good too. Stay again ? No definitely NOT. Overall mid 3* establishment minus 2* for sewage smell (=1*). NOT recommended; except worth a visit for the excellent restaurant. Pity !"
