"I’ve been fortunate enough to be well travelled and stayed in hundreds of hotels but this one is one of the best. The little details make this place so special. The accommodation was of exceptional quality with a massive bathroom, the room was spacious but so cosy I was asleep by 9.30! The food was delicious, the quality was outstanding and so lovely to see the chef taking real pride in what he does. The service was amazing, the waitresses and management were so accommodating and went above and beyond for us. This is the best value for a hotel, we hope to be back v soon!!"

Royal Britannia Hotel

"Great opportunity to have a lovely harbour side experience sat on the hotel terrace. Terrace was unclean and tables marked and sticky. We ordered a baked potato which arrived cold. And ham egg and chips - chips were ‘ok’ - quite dry. Egg was ok. Ham cannot be described as ham. More like rough overcooked 5 day old bacon with a disturbing green sheen to it. We did get a refund but no apology - it clearly didn’t matter and didn’t seem unusual. Will not return"

Czysty i świeży pokój. Śniadanie było wyśmienite z ładunkami wyboru. Usługa była wspaniała. Czyszczenie było tak pomocne, gdy potrzebowaliśmy informacji Dziękuję wszystkim. I Sam jesteśmy tak wdzięczni. Myśleliśmy, że może będziemy musieli obozować na Southwest Road przez noc!!!"

"As per another review on here, I experienced a domestic incident on one of the nights I stayed (shouting, swearing, banging doors). This was quite scary as I was staying on my own. I found the room quite run down and didn't get the chance to have breakfast as they only served from 8.30am. Positives are that the host was very friendly and the towels and bed were new and clean but I'm afraid I won't be staying again. "

"Just returned from a lovely break in Ilfracombe and our stay at the lovely Darnley hotel, Many thanks to the lovely hosts Paul & Lorinda who were so accommodating especially after I messed up our booking , we were literally on our way when I noticed that I'd booked wrong weekend, I obviously called in a panic but were very lucky that Lorinda changed our booking with no bother. Book breakfast with your booking as it's cheaper and well worth the money anyway, very fresh and delicious, a good start to the day. A short walk to the main street and a little longer but nice walk (provided you have no walking difficulties) to the harbour. I have had a recent hip replacement and managed to walk it with a lot of stops in between and got a taxi back. Its a beautiful walk if you can manage it. Have a fab time 😃"
