Excellent and friendly service! Modern and clean hotel! We highly recommend this hotel. It’s modern and with spacious and clean rooms. And the staff is outstanding. We were very warmly welcomed by the staff and check in went super smooth. We got lots of information and it’s easy to communicate via the hotels WeChat. The staff didn’t speak so much English, but this was not any problem with translating apps and the translate function in WeChat. The staff felt us feel very welcome and they stood out as very professional and service minded. We have travelled a lot and the staff of Huanghe Xiyu hotel made a solid impression. The room was spacious and modern. It was very clean and nice. Good windows which could be opened. It also has mosquito nets. There were plenty water, a couple of complementary soft drinks and drip coffee and tea. Comfortable beds and several choices of pillows. The gym was also good. The breakfast was very good. Nice selections of diffferent items. Tasty and fresh. We enjoyed freshly made noodles and dumplings. The staff in the restaurant was very friendly and service minded too. Overall a very good experience which we do recommended.

I had a fantastic stay at this super hotel. The check in staff were lovely. The room is beautiful and modern and the shower excellent. It is nicely laid out with the toilet separate from the shower room. Breakfast was excellent too - I loved the Jiaozi in particular. My only observation to make the experience even better would be to add some China cups for tea and coffee in the room. If I ever visit Zhongwei again, I will definitely come back.

If you are coming to this resort for the experience of sleeping in the desert, it delivers reasonably well. The tent I booked was simple but adequate, with a heating blanket provided for colder nights. Go with the mindset of seeking an experience rather than hotel-level comfort. The activities are sold as packages, the most expensive being 400 RMB for 90–120 minutes. They are fun but short and tourist-oriented, still worthwhile if you’ve made the trip. You can also take a quiet stroll into the desert. On the downside, although the resort is marketed for stargazing, there is too much light pollution to see the stars. The Wi-Fi is unreliable, which matters since reception in the area is poor. Snacks are limited, and while a set menu is proposed, individual dishes can be requested, but no prices are displayed for these, which feels lacking in transparency. Cleanliness of the shared bathrooms was also disappointing, as they were not serviced often enough. Overall, while not perfect, the stay is still a unique experience. I recommend it for just one night, enough to enjoy the activities and the desert atmosphere!

This hotel didn’t accept foreigners. They made a call and moved me to “Zhongwei Banye Stars Desert Camping Hotel”. The new hotel was very good. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the restaurant made good food. The bed was clean and comfortable. The best part was the small pond. It was shallow, but everyone had fun playing and swimming in it. It was a great way to escape the heat. The views are great and the activities good and nighttime activities are full of energy. A great place for solo travelers and families alike. I’d definitely choose here again.

A very new hotel with larger-than-life rooms and beds that feel like apartments. The location is midway between Shapotou and Zhongwei City, so it may not be ideal for some looking for nightlife, but there are several inexpensive restaurants in walking distance, so it's easy enough to get food. The bus stop of number 2 going to the city and the sand dunes is 5 minutes walk away - just time it right because there's one bus per hour in each direction. There's Chinese-style breakfast included which may not be for everyone but it was filling. Definitely worth the money! Had a blissful rest here and would go back.

在騰格里連綿的沙海里，帳篷聚落，完美復刻了絲綢之路上駝隊的詩意棲居。民宿管家非常熱情，服務非常周到。房間設施也很完善，衞生乾淨。夜幕降臨時，點燃巨型篝火，孩子們舉着煙花棒在星空下畫出光的軌跡。早餐也很豐富，味道也很棒。在騰格里，我遇見了最野性的自然，也觸摸到了最温暖的人間燈火。

A friendly lady host who fetched us from Zhongwei South railway station to the entrance of the campsite for a fee, 60 yuan. The next day we paid her another 60 yuan transportation fee to our hotel in Zhongwei city. At the entrance, another 4WD vehicle fetched us to and from the campsite which is less than two minutes away from the main entrance. This campsite has about 107 camps, 20 or so wooden chalets and also 20+ VIPs private individual chalets. We booked a two-beds camp to experience the night stay in the desert. The camp was clean and met our expectations. The shared bathrooms & toilets were also clean. The only setback was the unstable flow of the hot water, and we have informed the host about it. Breakfast served was adequate.

Pobyt na dwa noce, doświadczyłem dwóch różnych typów pokoi w małych domkach i tarasach. Usługi kelnerów były bardzo dobre, w każdym momencie w Wi-Fi i w drugim telefonie 👍 Bardzo cieszyło się dla turystów, którzy nie znają projektu kempingowego. Śniadanie jest bardzo bogate, wakacje są zalecane do czasu początkowego jedzenia, a niewiele osób może powoli jeść. Bilety na projekty pustyni można kupić bezpośrednio w rejestrze, bardzo wygodne, a płyty ślizgowe można kupić za darmo bez ograniczeń. Spędziliśmy cały dzień w obozie w Donggu. Następnego dnia, kierownik połączył się z wagonem Wanga i odjechał kilka czerwonych miejsc w Centrali. Podróż pół dnia nie jest trudna i nie jest powolna. Bardzo dobrze ☺️ Polecam wszystkim znajomym, którzy chcą obozu na pustyni i jazdy w samochodzie.

The Zhongwei Shadu Hotel is 4 star property located on a roundabout next to the highway linking Zhongwei with the Shapotou river scenic area. It's about 8 kilometres to town or about 20 yuan by taxi. The Shapotou river area is 11 kilometres away while the Shapotou desert area is about 16 kilometres away. The immediate area of the hotel once filled with shops and restaurants has now mainly closed down and is pretty much abandoned. The hotel itself offers fairly premium rooms with good beds, crisp linens, fresh towels and an excellent bathroom that holds a hot shower with good water pressure. A special note of appreciation to the very friendly and hard working housekeeping who really stand out at this property. The receptionists are not overly friendly but they are professional and are really trying to fulfil the guest's requests as expected from a property of this level. The female manager on duty when we checked in was avoiding eye contact and flatly refused to speak to me directly when I addressed her with an issue. One of the receptionists, the one who showed us our room, (unfortunately we don't know her name), was outstanding in her very friendly attitude. She was very mindful of problem solving. She should be recommended as the hotel's most outstanding employee especially when it comes to dealing with foreign guests. If the location out of town is acceptable for you, the Zhongwei Shadu Hotel is recommended as a decent four star hotel. Probably this hotel is most convenient for guests who arrive with their own car. Recommend ☀️☀️☀️

I absolutely loved this place! I’m writing this as a foreigner who went with 4 other foreigners for a special birthday weekend. First, the service. We have good Chinese proficiency, but those with limited to none will be fine. Most of the communication and coordination is handled via WeChat - which can auto translate. 东 “Dong” was our main contact. He rocked and gave us a real experience. He shuttled us in the sand jeep, gifted me a cake for my birthday, and was just an overall cool guy. Thanks! Second, the location and accommodations. If you stay near Desert Star, there’s a lot of people and campsites - that area seems like a bit of a tourist funnel. This area is located in the REAL sand dunes area. Further North, you actually cross into Inner Mongolia. The separation and distance is worth it. Makes for brighter stars and a more authentic experience. Third, the food. They were able to coordinate a whole lamb to be roasted for my birthday. It was absolutely extraordinary. The sides for it were some of the best I had on the entire trip - they have some skilled chefs there. This place has great reviews, and it’s worth it. I do recommend this to foreigners, and I hope I can return one day.
