"It is a nice hotel which is nice because the village has not much to offer to we were happy to stay there. The receptionist is really nice and helpful , cuisine is good. But i was disapointed by the service … also we had a man who started to read all the menu !!!!! So so strange … as half of the menu i was not interested and then i can read myself.. also i ask him something and his answer was “ let me continue the reading”. Next table was laughing , they must have been through the same experience. A part from that, it is a nice . Also the pool is always with kids , not a relaxing pool although it is beautiful … I found Panama the people are rude, they only see you as “ dollars”, it is not nice, we work hard to be able to travel …."

"We had a great meal at Pescao while visiting Santa Catalina. Everything we ordered was delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. The service was exceptional thanks to Michael and Paco, who were friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. Highly recommended if you’re looking for great food and genuine hospitality in Santa Catalina. We will definitely come back!"

"I spent a week at Surfasana Lodge in Santa Catalina. It is a unique property situated on a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It was very peaceful there surrounded by nature. Mauricio was an excellent host. He can answer all your questions about the area or surfing. The room was exceptionally clean and well-appointed. If you come to Santa Catalina for surfing or diving, I highly recommend Surfasana Lodge for your accommodations."

Hotel Las Hamacas

Hotel Las Hamacas

📍 Via Playa Estero S/N, Sona
★★★ 7,6 (3 ocena)

"My room was $80 per night and for that price I would certainly hope for better accommodations. The room was extremely small, as well as the bathroom (you can sit in the toilet and brush your teeth at the same time since the sink is in oración your face). To add to the bathroom woes, every morning the shower wouldn’t drain. The kitchenette had no soap, only one fork and no spoon, although the room was for two people. There was never anyone in the office to ask for help. The mattress was horrible and worn out with permanent indentions (body slots). The lighting ****** everywhere. Overall the room reminded me of a jail cell. It certainly wasn’t worth $8o a night and probably no even half that amount. The only positive was the location which is right near “downtown “. But in that same location, there are far better places in town to stay. I’d pass on this one."

"Arguably the best hotel in Santa Catalina. Nice bungalows with AC and all comfort. Very beautiful grounds with great pool. Walking distance to village. Nice restaurant and very friendly staff. I would come back and recommend this property."

Hotel Santa Catalina Panamá ★★★
"We had the most incredible stay at Hotel Santa Catalina, Panama — truly one of those places that stays with you long after you leave. My family and I spent two weeks here with our 6-month-old baby, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming, and genuinely family-friendly — we felt completely at ease from the moment we arrived. For the surfers: we scored pumping right-hand point break conditions for 10 days straight 🤯 — an absolute dream. Waking up, checking the waves, and being in the water within minutes was unbeatable. The food deserves its own spotlight. Everything was incredible, but don’t miss the pescado frito entero — easily one of the best meals we had — and the fresh watermelon juice, which became a daily ritual. What really makes this place special, though, is the people. The staff were outstanding — attentive, kind, and always going the extra mile, especially with our baby. And the owners… just amazing. So warm and welcoming that we genuinely felt like part of the family by the end of our stay. Evenings were pure magic — watching the sunset over the pool, surrounded by butterflies and flycatcher birds, with that golden light settling over everything. It’s the kind of place where you slow down in the best possible way. We left already planning our return — this is somewhere we hope to come back to every year. 🌅💛"

SurfAsana Lodge
"Surfasana (surf & yoga) is a completely new facility and an outstanding value. The lodge is surrounded by nature, offering a peaceful, beautiful setting ideal for relaxation, meditation, and reflection. It has hot water (rare for the area) and air conditioning, and boasts stunning views. The property is only 800 meters (about half a mile) from the nearest beach—not 1,800 meters as sometimes stated. We will definitely return, but the true highlight of our stay was the host, Mauricio. He went above and beyond to make us comfortable, from helping organize a Coiba National Park tour to providing free bikes and expert local advice—especially for surfing. On request, he will also host “pasta nights,” and we had the best prawn and rigatoni dish in a long time for a very reasonable price. A special place made even better by an exceptional host."
