A unique accommodation in the heart of Georgetown. This was the perfect location and within walking distance of many places of interest as well as local and western eateries. The staff at this place go above and beyond. Staying there for a week you start to feel a part of the family. They are able to organize tours, drivers and laundry at request. The rooms itself was spacious and around the side of the building meaning it was well hidden and the rooms; you really feel like you are staying in a authentic Malaysian mansion given the decor. Last but not least there is the resident cat ”Mike” who you will undoubtedly come across for pats throughout the day. We also got breakfast during the stay and they have a local or western option. My advice go for the roti- was very yummy. All in all I would recommend this accommodation to anyone looking to stay in Georgetown and would stay there again if I return.

My elderly parents stayed at The Gurney during their medical checkup in Penang and accidentally left behind some documents. We emailed the hotel and left a message through booking.com to no avail. Then through a phone call, we got connected to Danesh at the Concierge Department, who then went the extra mile to coordinate among various departments within the hotel, and mailed the document through express courier service. His attentive service is highly appreciated.

This is the most relaxing dream hotel that I stay . Feel comfortable and calm ☺️. Breakfast 🍳 was so yummy 🤤 and staff quite nice in restaurant. Pool very instagramable . Everything was nice except service . We had called 3 times from hotel phone but nobody pick up the phone . I need to go down and ask them to send bathrobe to me 😢, need to improve ya Will come to stay again 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸

I can easily find location of the hotel through google maps/ waze. If you are coming from USM, its quite difficult to enter the entrance road of the hotel due to the traffic condition. I suggest that you come from the Lotus hypermarket area, so the entrance road to the hotel is easily accessible. The receptionist is helpful and polite. The hotel provided ramp and lift and wheelchair-friendly. The room is quite small and compact but complete with basic necessities. The have smart tv so i can watch netflix using my account. Wifi is easily accessible. I could finish my work online during travelling. At the ground floor nearby thay have The Coffee Bean And Tea Lead Cafe, good dor those who are adsicted to coffee. Incan walk to the Lotus Hypermarket nearby to find toiletries or food, or eat at thw dood court. Family Mart is also a walking distance. It also located near to Pelita Nasi Kandar and Subaidah Nasi Kandar.

Hotel is nice, however I highly recommend to change or move carpets in the corridor - they looks terrible and at first glance spoil the impression about the place. Rooms were clean, bathroom is new, hot water is very good. That is a pity you couldn’t open the windows, we have a view on the nearest building roofs, looks not bad. We had a problem with AC, cause it works from extremely cold mode, to slow fan and the worst it was located in front of the bad, so if you switch it on for whole night - you will be ill in the morning, and the room is in the sunny side, so it is quite hot during the day and night. I don’t know how to be with that, we choose to move one of the 2 twin beds to each other, it helped not so much :( now i have a problem with my throat. The hotel use new technology of check in, but a little bit strange to check out from the same room if you want to extend your stay. Price in the hotel too high, better to find good offers online.

The white elevator is very unique to this elevator. Tho it was slow but I don’t mind bec it so chic with glass door. Very unique indeed! Love it though I wasn’t able to take pic. 😒 +++ white elevator, water refilling dispenser, very spacious room & bathroom +++ location was quite away from the main action but there are 2 bus stops nearby, komtar & chowrasta are 5-10mins walk +++ they provide dental kit, small soap, nice shampoo/conditioner & body wash, mugs, electric kettle, safe, ref, ac was functioning very well, room telephone, tv but i did not use it +++ free wifi was good —- reception is not very friendly except for 1 Indian guy who promptly answers whatsapp tho he mistaken me for a guy at first 😄, the chinese receptionist hardly smiles, indian lady seemed to not know anything when you ask about tourist spots (i think hotel people should equip themselves with some knowledge on tourism. I mean there should be basic orientation by management on this. Times had changed and you need to have these extra customer service, just suggesting). —- i was in the assumption that cleaning is daily but i was told every other day but i still need to remind them about it. Entire hotel can use some improvement in the cleaning — no closet inside the room, you just have to hang your stuff —- my view was a huge wall —- soundproofing is bad, very noisy when people close doors or children running around. You hear toilet flushing from nearby rooms —- it was raining when I arrive and nobody offered an umbrella except on the second day when the janitor heard me. That was appreciated very much. It also made me realize that umbrella is a weapon for solo travellers so that made the carrying a little easier —- towels smell mushy maybe bec of rainy season —- sometimes bathroom had some drainage smells —- food choices was a little limited in area unless you walk for like 5-10mins. Overall stay was still on the good side. I had way worst stays than this. I did enjoy my solo trip to Penang and would love to go back. I plan to stay next time near the street art areas where the actions are. I would still recommend le embassy to other travellers.

my POV , the room i stay was so great with seaview, and facilities in the hotel was good. the view is so nice, the pool and others in the room was good. but there are several comment need to take note for all, 1. no air condition in the lift 2. If you take booking room included breakfast, please take note that, they will take so much time to topup the buffet food. during my stay, it looks like only have 3 workers , 1 in kitchen, 1 collect the plate and cup, 1 at the counter check in breakfast.

2 night stay in room #4 - very comfortable king bed, windowless room. Room was very spacious and clean, ditto for the bathroom. Trendy RBG lighting in the bathroom and headboard which we liked for ambient lighting because of the lack of a window. It took us a day to realize that there is a switch (with a red light) for the hot water heater. Appreciated the 2 bottles of water and packets of instant coffee and tea with a kettle in the room, also a few small free snacks and water next to the front desk but no breakfast. Lots of local food in the area. I’d highly recommend this small inn due to the quirky decor and great value for money factor (booked through agoda).

Hotel: I've booked a hostel in Georgetown before I found out Tune Hotel has a special rate for weekly & monthly. I cancelled the hostel & try the Tune Hotel, Jalan Burmah at RM64.30/night/queen bedroom with window, fan, aircond, toilet. Booked by phone call, not online booking. Surprisingly the size of room is enough for 2 pax, has space for solat, got hair dryer. I end up 7 nights there. Turn out that most of 2-3 stars hotels here are around RM100++/night, hostel with sharing toilets RM45++/night. Lucky me. Don't forget to pay RM2/night as intructed by the Pulau Pinang government. Self-laundry: 10 minutes walking from the hotel, I found a 24-hour self-laundry at Jalan Argyll. Laundry Hub Georgetown. It uses dobi coins. RM7 for 7 coins for 14 kg normal washing (30 minutes), RM4 for 4 coins for dryer (30 minutes). Bring your own washing net so you can put all underwears inside. I'm satisfied with the cleanliness. Halal food: For Muslims, the New Theme World food court next to the Tune Hotel is not focusing on halal food but I think rice set by Kerala Banana Leaves can satisfy our hunger for lunch. Ask for vegetarian set. I also tried Simple Cafe nearby Jalan Argyll, the halal, Malay food small restaurant. The porridge & ikan asam are quite delicious, 8/10. As if I was having home-cooked meals. But they close every weekend. For breakfast I saw a long que along one of the road. I followed the line, tried roti telur, roti canai, kari with 2 big chunky of meat. I'm not a fan of curry so I rate it as 5/10. At the end of Jalan Burmah I found a special food outlet, The Community. They sell kombucha, vegetarian pasta, puddings & other things. As the seller told me all F&B are supplied by single mothers, disabled community & poor people, I tried & have no regrets. Delicious. They have yoga class every Wednesday, 7-8 pm. Let's support domestic tourism again! Just few minutes from The Community, I noticed many people flocked into a bread small shop. Driven by curiosity, I joined the que & found out they were waiting for hot, big apple pie, pineaple pie, cheese tart, egg tart & other fresh pastries. Mind you all are in front of the cashier, other assisstants will help you to pick your pastries. I bought what others have bought. Delicious, warm, big, cheap. Location: Walking distance to everywhere. Strategic. 10 minutes walking distance from the KOMTAR. Don't left your small umbrella, water, prayer mat,telekung. Surau & masjid is everywhere. Friendly people here. Ask for help if lost.

The location is not in the tourist area, but there are many delicious nearby (recommended green house shrimp noodles, next to the famous bakery shop in Penang), there is also a big supermarket giant, it is even more difficult at night, there will be several at the door The stroller stalls are frequented by locals. I walked for 20 minutes, I was walking, but I could take the bus from the light to the door. The Youth Hostel is very, very clean, the bed will not feel stuffy, the space is super large, although it is 16 people, but the number of guests will not be many (probably because it is the most expensive in the Youth Hostel), I lived for two days. The moment I stepped into the hotel lobby and room, I immediately felt at ease. My primary concern was there is no basement parking lot (after reading reviews in TA). But once I reached the hotel, it is not a problem bcz there is a designated space in front of the hotel for hotel resident's cars. Other than that, everything is just amazing. I was on an impromptu work/vacation trip with my sisters. The room and bathroom were big enough for the 3 of us to move around. Plenty of space. The 3 of us can even fit in front of the bathroom mirror to do our makeups. That's how spacious it is. Room is at 5th floor, no 518. We had a good sunrise view from our window, which was pleasant. The price that we paid were worth it. Service is excellent. Always friendly, with a smile and always greets you whenever they see you. We had problem with the safe in our room; couldnt open it after we locked it. It was immediately resolved after we made a call to the recep. We asked for an extra towel as there were some stains on one of the ones provided to us. They sent the new one up promptly. Impressive service. Applause to the management team! Too bad they only have one water machine at the lobby. Hope they will consider installing at every floor for convenience. Room, bathroom n beds were clean. No problem with plumbing and air con. No breakfast in this hotel but plenty of eateries nearby, within walking distance. So location is excellent. Plus it is not located in front of the main road so you can get a quiet night sleep. Will I come back to this hotel? A definite yes! I'll probably ask for higher floors next time I'm back.

All staff are friendly. Was able to get an early check in and free upgrade to a bigger room but with no view, option to accept and I just grab cause this is not an issue for me and my husband. Many eateries places around the hotel and many interesting places within walking distance. Will definitely book the same hotel if we are to visit Penang again

This is a mid-priced hotel with reasonable rates and a good location. The most significant issue seems to be the poor sound insulation. Even though I knew from reviews that the soundproofing was not good, I requested a room on a higher floor, and it didn't make much of a difference. However, my room faced the sea, so that was a plus. Additionally, the pillows had an odor, as if they hadn't been washed. The bathroom didn't provide toothbrushes or toothpaste, only two cups, hand soap, and shower caps (I brought my own, so it didn't affect me). I think the hotel should have a safe deposit box; The refrigerator and air conditioning were both very cold. There was insufficient lighting in the room. What bothered me the most was the lack of laundry service (the front desk said they used to have it but no longer do). I booked this hotel because I saw laundry services on Trip.com, so I'm quite disappointed. However, overall, it's still acceptable. Thank you.

Our stay at the blue mansion was amazing from start to finish. The staff were excellent and efficient. The room was great, with some nice touches like biscuits and sarongs to use by the pool. It’s worth noting the room had a fan and air conditioning which we didn’t expect from a historic residence. We were blown away by the hotel and would recommend it to anyone staying in Georgetown. It really added to our trip.

Treasure Hotel ～ It’s very convenient to go anywhere. Love Lane, Chinatown, and the graffiti wall can be walked for a few minutes. It is directly opposite the very lively Hongyuan Food Square. It is recommended to take a taxi to locate here. The room is very clean. The uncle at the front desk and the beautiful sister are very enthusiastic. I will come back to live for a few days.

We booked this hotel via Booking.com using our credit card to secure the room On arrival, and after filling out the relevant forms we were asked for payment as expected, at this point they disclosed it was only cash and we could not use our credit cards. Even when we showed them the booking that had no mention of the cash only policy. So, it is now late in the day and they are the most unhelpful staff we have met during our current year long trip (that bad), they would not even give us access to the WiFi to arrange another room. After nearly 3 hours and constant calls to Booking.com we finally agreed no cancellation fee would apply despite it being the hotels mistake....they would not agree to the waiver of the fee until I would not leave. They even showed me an email their manager had sent to Booking.com showing this was a regular occurrence. There are many very good hotels in Georgetown...stay clear of this one. We moved to the Royale Chelung 10 minutes away... fantastic service by very helpful people... It may have been a nice hotel, however the management and staff do not care!!! STAY WELL CLEAR

When I came there on a rainy day around chinese new year, the old guy at the reception shouted : ” fully booked” agressively, and then when I show him the booking on my phone from Hotels.com, he was a bit kinder, he grumbled about Hotels.com and then offered me a room without window without even offering a discount. I refuses because it wasn't what I had payed for, then he told me they had an other hotelandI could stay there but I had to wait for a guy with a car coming soon to drive me there, I waited for more than an hour then he drove me to the other side of the city to an hotel really crap (foto) and an other room wirhout window, I was really furious, I told then, then emailled them I wanted to cancel and get a full refund, they never replied. As soon I found a new hotel I contacted Hotels.com, they could not reach the hotel, they promised to do their best but 3 days later they had done nothing they even made a confusion with another hotel I had booked thru them, they send me messages every 5/6 days saying they still could not reach the hotel but they keep up trying, and then 2 weeks passed and nothing more, I asked them what was going on: They said they could not reach the hotel and in this case their politic was :no refund! And generously they offered me a 10$ credit! So on Hotels.com they can book for u a room in an hotel already fully booked, and then if the hotel do not reply at your request it can gleefully going away with the money and rent rooms that do not exist! In the normal world, in a justice suit if a party doesn't show up at the court he will lost, the absentee is always wrong, with Hotels.com it's the opposite!

Advantages: 1 The hotel is located in the old street, close to various attractions, most of which can be walked. 2 The hotel owner is very good, Chinese, Chinese, and the first time I arrived at the hotel, I gave a good walking plan according to the map. 3 rooms are quite big and the service is very good. Absolutely terrible. I walk in at 10am, and the guy at the counter does not welcome me, but instead asks for over 100myr. Poor customer service from him, he maybe be new but it would be worth that he gets some training on how to deal with customers. My first room was very dirty. There were stains around the bed, there were stains on the towel, the bathroom had not been cleaned properly, it very disgusting. The cleaners did not look like official cleaners as they were not dressed in uniform. The cupboards were dusty. I asked to move room, and the lady was very kind and moved room. However this room smelt of cigarettes!!! It was vile. Again there was same problem with the room not being clean. I felt incredibly disgusted because whose spit and body fluid could In that room. I instead checked out and found that the manager was rude to his staff. I did not get a refund on my room but did end up with all the extra cash I had to pay.

We were looking for a unique hotel that would reflect the uniqueness of Georgetown and were not disappointed. The hotel is in a renovated set of historic shops in the middle of wonderful Georgetown with the owners having done a lot to reflect its heritage. Is the hotel perfect, maybe not - our room (Argus Suite) was relatively dark, the bathrooms are not always perfectly designed - but this for me is perfectly acceptable knowing you are staying at a historic location. Do I remember all the typical large chain hotels I stayed at - no. Will I remember the Seven Terraces - yes.

I stayed at Waterfall Hotel, Penang recently with my parents for a night. We were there for pilgrimage trip hence we decided to stay a hotel near to temples and this was a perfect place. The room is spacious, comfy and clean. It has two double beds as we stayed in a Superior Family Room. The room consists of all the basic facilities such as Hot Shower, Toiletries, Towels, Hairdryer, Fridge and Electric Kettle. Near by there is an Indian Restaurant which offer both Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian Food. There are also other cafes. Overall, it was good.

We stayed at a studio suite in tropics eight (room 805) for a week during our visit to Penang. The hotel staff are lovely and very accomodating, our room had a fantastic binder with all the information we needed to know about tropics eight, Penang tourist destinations and bus routes to get to them. Our studio was spacious and the bathroom was clean. The sofa was comfortable as well, and the location of tropics eight was perfect for us to walk to nearby places. The laundry room was very useful, but we unfortunately had to wait a while to do our laundry as only one machine was functioning during our stay. I only wish our room had a window instead of a small balcony so that we could have enjoyed the view all day long. Overall, it was a great stay. I would no doubt return to tropics eight again.

I recently stayed at the Berjaya Hotel in Penang and found the experience to be a mix of comfort and inconvenience. The bed was notably comfortable, providing a good night's rest. However, my stay was marred by significant noise issues. It seemed like there was a lot of disturbance coming from the surrounding rooms, particularly when someone next door used water facilities. I suspect the main water compressor might be located near my room (2209), which contributed to the noise levels.The hotel, in general, shows signs of aging. Booking with TRIP.COM is super easy peasy, there is no hidden charge. Room was as expected, worthy with the price. All facilities provided functioned well. The only concern with my booking was the type of room. I picked room with twin bed, but then I got one queen bed and the hotel did not let me know during check in. This is a newly opened hotel. The rooms are very comfortable and clean, very quiet, and free parking at the door.
