The hotel was clean, and the room size was not too small for 2 adults and 2 toddlers. Most of all, I was satisfied that we could have a healthy breakfast at this price. When we signed up for the Vessel membership, we received an Orion beer as a gift, and perhaps because we stayed in a Ryukyu room, they also gave us Ryukyu King Team clothing. My daughter left her clothes and glasses in the public bath, but when I went to the reception the next day, they had them safely kept, which I was very grateful for.
We only stayed 1 night, mid-oct, so the experience is limited.
It was spacious. Facilities seemed new. The shower had good pressure and temperature control.
Staff were friendly and could speak English. Helped us with managing the parking of the car without zero issues.
The location is great, right smack in the middle of the shopping street of Naha.
Would definitely return!
Podróż taksówką z lotniska do hotelu kosztowała około 30 000 jenów i trwała około 1 godziny i 40 minut.
I booked the Beach House zone with 2 bedrooms and 1 living room, and overall, it was a wonderful stay. The room condition was excellent—very clean, beautiful, and elegantly designed, with a stunning sea view. The facilities were well-equipped, especially the kitchen, which had everything we needed.
One minor issue was that at night, when closing the bathroom door, there was a wind noise, so we had to keep the bathroom door open while sleeping. Transportation between the main building and the Beach House was convenient with a golf cart service. Additional costs included a parking fee and a resort fee of 300 yen per person per night.
Breakfast around 7:30 AM was quite busy, but I really liked their online queue system, which allowed us to reserve our spot virtually without waiting in front of the restaurant.
The resort had three swimming pools. The first pool, located right next to the sea, was disappointing—it was very dirty, with algae at the bottom. Another issue was that the edge of this pool facing the sea was too deep; anyone under 160 cm would not be able to stand, even though it’s the side with the best sunset view. The second pool was located slightly higher up, but we didn’t use it. The third was an indoor pool, which we also didn’t try.
Staff service was excellent. They spoke English and Japanese fluently, and some could even communicate in Chinese.
Around the hotel, there were also quite a few good restaurants within easy reach, which was very convenient.
Overall, I was very impressed with almost everything, except for the cleanliness of the swimming pool.

Unexpectedly Perfect Stay at Southwest Grand Hotel! 🌟
We stumbled upon Southwest Grand Hotel due to a last-minute flight change, and what a blessing in disguise it turned out to be! Our extra day in Okinawa became one of the most memorable parts of our trip—all thanks to this incredible hotel.
🛏️ Stylish & Photogenic Rooms
The room was modern, chic, and absolutely Instagram-worthy. I even turned it into a mini photo studio and captured some beautiful family portraits of my wife and our 3-month-old baby. My wife was over the moon with the results!
🍳 Breakfast That Delights Every Palate
The breakfast spread was phenomenal—offering both Western and Japanese options, all bursting with flavor. The cheese selection and homemade yogurt with honey were standouts. Don’t miss them!
📍 Prime Location
Just a minute’s walk from Kokusai-dori (国際通り), the hotel is perfectly located for last-minute shopping or grabbing essentials. Super convenient and central!
🍽️ Vibrant Evenings
As the nearby streets settle into a peaceful hush and most restaurants wind down with only a handful of diners, the lobby restaurants at Southwest Grand Hotel remain buzzing with energy. The lively atmosphere, filled with cheerful faces and clinking glasses, speaks volumes about the quality and charm of the hotel’s dining experience.
💭 Still Dreaming About It
Overall, our experience at Southwest Grand Hotel was truly delightful. Even now—almost a month later—I can still recall every moment with vivid clarity. If it weren’t for the limited parking, I’d confidently call it Michelin-worthy! This hotel is an absolute hidden gem, and without a doubt, I’ll be staying here again on our next visit to Okinawa!
This hotel location is good! Very close to the main area. We could walk to restaurants and the beach easily. Love the idea that we can access and use the pool facility in another Hilton :)
The hotel is located relatively near Naha airport. The surrounding is calm but there is not much else directly around the hotel. The hotel itself is very modern and clean. Service is excellent. The lunch buffet is especially great. Breakfast is pretty good. I would like to especially highlight the friendliness and warmth of Javi who suggested us food and activities and genuinely cared about our well being.
Good location in the heart of Naha downtown. Breakfast buffet is good with lots of choice. Room size is fine and can fit 4 luggages . Only down side is bathroom which is not big. It doesn’t bother me too much when I don’t take bath in hotel.
Obsługa klienta i personel recepcji byli pomocni i sprostali wszystkim naszym prośbom.

Amazing
YYan ReevesWe had spent 4 nights at the hotel during the Golden Week which might have influenced the perception of service, but not dramatically.
Among the advantages of the hotel are: nice spacious rooms (ours had a stunning sea view); generally good location with beautiful nature and access to the beaches where you could actually swim (not a given on the island) - at least until the tide goes too low; reasonably good food across the restaurants with rather friendly prices; stylish bar with quality drinks.
Among the disadvantages are: very non-Japanese service (generally not very helpful, with low penetration of English among the staff) and lack of attention to detail that could make the resort actually very nice - again, not very typical case for Japan.
A few pieces of advice to the management:
1. Bring the option of in-room breakfast. If a guest is sick and can’t go down, it’s impossible to order in-room breakfast on the day, while rooms service opens at 11:30. Same frustration goes to the coffee stall downstairs that doesn’t serve coffee during earlier breakfast hours
2. Consider equipping rooms with coffee machines and contemporary electronics - low costs to take, yet massive disadvantage for the 5* status for not having them
3. Pay more attention to room service: we spent 48h without shampoo and shower gel. Our glasses were washed occasionally. New bottles of drinking water arrived only once.
4. Fix the beach! The amenities there look like a poor community beach area, especially those shameful umbrellas. You have reasonable amenities at the pool - why not spreading them to the beach areas to make them feel more like a resort rather than public beaches that no one gave any care?
5. Gym and SPA amenities could use a bit of refreshment. I won’t mention SPA service itself which might be a result of poor luck with the specific technician
6. Empty mini bar equals lost revenue. You could easily cover the modifications above through adding more options for people to enjoy drinks at their balconies.
What makes staying in Japan truly special - genuine care and attention to every detail - was completely missing over our stay at this Hyatt. In fact, we consistently had that feeling “this could actually be really nice” and then something would go terribly wrong with the awkward service. The hotel that looks like 5* on pictures leaves a 3* aftertaste at max. I am only writing this because I felt it didn’t have to - those are easy aspects to fix.
DDuoerbamaI still vividly remember their 30th-anniversary celebration. Other than the outdated facilities, everything else was impeccable, especially the Executive Lounge – it was absolutely perfect! Great views, excellent food, and an even better atmosphere. I really hope the hotel renovates its facilities soon; it would be a shame to waste such a prime location!
GGuest UserThe staff were really nice. Even though there was a language barrier with the lady downstairs, she was very patient and used a translation app to communicate with us. However, the app wasn't very accurate. When we went upstairs to check in, it turned out there was a ********* person at the front desk, which was great. Still, we had to wait quite a while to check in, even though there was no one else at the desk at the time. The room was pretty spacious, and everything else was fine. The location is also quite convenient, and the restaurant downstairs is good. After checking in, it was past 3 PM, so we went downstairs to eat. The server asked if we wanted the restaurant or cafe. When she gave us the menu, we realized we only had about five or six minutes before lunch orders closed, but they still took our order! The set meal and the beef rice bowl were both really delicious. Definitely worth trying if you're staying here.
KKEVINLEE1. 🌅 **Ambiance & Location** (★★★☆☆)
📍 The hotel is situated along the coast of Yomitan Village, offering fantastic ocean views, perfect for watching sunsets and simply relaxing by the sea.
✔ All rooms are oceanfront with sea views, so you wake up to the ocean every day.
✘ As it's located in a resort area, it's a bit far from the city center and transportation hubs. You'll need to rent a car or arrange a shuttle for daily outings.
➡️ Ideal for a completely relaxing vacation; less suitable for travelers who primarily want to explore Naha city.
---
2. 🛏️ **Accommodation & Comfort** (★★★★★)
✨ Rooms are spacious and comfortable, with a minimalist yet warm design. The floor-to-ceiling windows offer excellent ocean views.
✨ Guests consistently praise the bedding, cleanliness, and the sea-view terrace.
✨ Rooms are well-equipped with amenities (Wi-Fi, refrigerator, household appliances, etc.).
📌 Guest ratings for 'comfort and cleanliness' are very high.
---
3. 🛎️ **Service Quality** (★★★★☆)
✔ Hoshino Resorts' signature attentive service means the reception and overall stay experience are generally well-received.
⚠ A very small number of guests noted a 'slight difference in room hospitality compared to other high-end Japanese ryokans.'
✔ Overall, the service remains at a high standard.
---
4. 🍽️ **Dining Experience** (★★★★☆)
🍴 The restaurant offers a diverse menu, blending local and international flavors, with themed dishes and unique experiences.
🍽️ Some guests felt the dining surpassed typical hotel offerings, but noted the prices were on the higher side.
🎯 Most guests gave positive reviews.
---
5. 🏊♀️ **Facilities & Additional Experiences** (★★★★★)
🌊 Highlights include the infinity pool, spa, beachfront cafe, and cultural activities.
💆♂️ Activities like spa treatments, horseback riding, and sunset cocktails make the vacation experience even more complete.
✔ Perfect for couples, families, or anyone looking for a truly relaxing getaway.

6. 🧭 **Recommended For**
✅ Those looking for a leisurely vacation, sea views, and relaxation.
✅ Family or couple getaways.
🇯🇵 Not suitable for: Travelers solely looking for convenient city exploration (requires transport arrangements).
HHsinTangThe hotel's swimming pool has indoor and outdoor sections, as well as a waterslide for babies. The indoor pool has a bed against the wall, making it safe and comfortable for young children to sleep. Importantly, there are also educational and fun activities nearby. I highly recommend bringing children to participate in these activities. Parking is available, but sometimes a shuttle service is required to get the car. I really loved the lobby's décor. Also, being able to continue playing in the pool after check-out is fantastic.
LLinyinaiFacilities: Hyatt's facilities are unbeatable, and the size is quite large for Japan. The breakfast selection was a bit limited and didn't change much over three days, but the food itself was delicious. The swimming pool is small, but better than nothing. The hot water temperature wasn't very stable at night, fluctuating quite a bit. And for some reason, the toilet lid kept falling down and hitting me. Other than that, everything else was fine.
Service: Couldn't be better. Every time we arrived by taxi, the trunk was opened before we even got out, and they'd even help us check if we'd left anything in the seat 😂. All the staff spoke excellent English.
Location: It's about 1600 JPY by taxi to the airport and around 5000 JPY to American Village. Kokusai Dori is a one-minute walk away, and there's a convenience store about 200 meters from the entrance. The pottery street across the road is fun to browse and shop. However, it's quite a distance from the port, the bus terminal, and Naminoue Shrine. I'd recommend staying closer to the bus terminal area. Kokusai Dori is a bit of a tourist trap for food, and there's not much else to see or do there.
GGuest UserLocated in Yomitan, you can take a direct bus from the airport to the hotel, which costs 1700 yen and takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Although the hotel is a bit old, it's well-maintained, and every photo you take looks beautiful. There are two churches, one on each side, and the famous Hoshino Coffee Shop is within walking distance.
The hotel beach is just okay, but the water is clear. If the weather is good, you can see the ocean stratified like a 'jellyfish' sea, which is stunning. At low tide in the afternoon, you can easily spot sea cucumbers, blue fish, and hermit crabs near the reefs, which is quite interesting (I recommend bringing a pair of beach shoes).
For breakfast, there are three restaurants to choose from. I tried the Japanese restaurant and HanaHana. At HanaHana, you can exchange your breakfast for lunch (after scanning a QR code, you can select to swap breakfast for lunch and make a reservation). The lunch buffet is quite good, with many Cantonese dim sum options, and the overall quality is excellent – highly recommended. The Japanese restaurant serves a set meal for breakfast with a small buffet; the overall selection isn't extensive, but it's more about the experience.
The hotel service is very good, and the environment is beautiful. You can watch the sunset from the lounge chairs on the hotel beach. You can also take the shuttle to the Grand Mercure, then walk to Hanagasa for dinner or to Cape Zanpa Lighthouse. The Grand Mercure has more swimming pool facilities (the pools at both hotels are shared).
Overall, the experience was great, and I recommend it. The only downside is that the area is relatively remote, so it's not very convenient if you don't have a car, but it's not a major issue. You can stay here for a few nights and then move to Kokusai Street for a few more nights.
EES1310The hotel is quite far from the city, which makes it feel like a true resort—you really get that vacation vibe here. Unfortunately, there’s no sauna, which feels a little unusual. Without a car, getting around can be tricky, so driving is almost essential.
On the bright side, the hotel is located in Northern Okinawa Main Island, close to plenty of attractions such as Sesoko Island, Kouri Island, and the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium. The bathroom amenities had a soothing fragrance that added to the stay, though the shampoo felt a bit drying.
Special thanks to Shyam at the front desk—he was very welcoming and greeted us with a big smile, which made the stay even more enjoyable.
BBabachan23Oceanic Grandeur at The Orion Motobu: A Masterclass in Northern Okinawa Hospitality
Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5)
The Verdict
”The Hotel Orion Motobu Resort & Spa remains a benchmark for luxury in Northern Okinawa. With its expansive footprint and strategic location adjacent to the Emerald Beach and Churaumi Aquarium, it offers a resort experience that feels both grand in scale and intimate in comfort. As a traveler who appreciates the higher standards of Japanese hospitality, I found this property to be a highlight of the Motobu Peninsula.”
Location & Aesthetic
The positioning is peerless. To have Emerald Beach as your front yard and the aquarium as your neighbor is a luxury few hotels can claim. The architecture maximizes the stunning views of Ie Island, and the transition from the sophisticated lobby to the pristine coastal surroundings is seamless. The resort successfully captures the 'Okinawa Blue' spirit in every corner.
Service & Amenities
The service here felt notably more 'high-touch' and personalized. The staff navigate the complexities of a large-scale resort with grace and genuine warmth—a step above the standard 'transactional' service seen in city hotels. You can feel the passion and warmth the moment you arrive at the resort.
Accommodation Note
The rooms are impressively spacious by Japanese standards and the location is right in between Churaumi Aquarium and Bise Fukugi Tree Road by foot!!!
Guest Tip: Ensure you are present at your balcony to embrace the magnificent sunset. Watching the sun dip below the horizon around 5:00 PM is a transformative experience that defines the beauty of this resort.
