5-Star hotele w: Yangon Region, Myanmar

The hotel is very conveniently located, close to major tourist attractions, and connected by a skywalk to a shopping mall with a food court and a market. There's a wonderful view from the window. The room had everything needed: slippers, towels, bathrobes, toiletries, tea/coffee. It featured soundproofing, blackout curtains, and firm beds. Breakfast offered traditional Myanmar, Indian, Chinese, and European cuisines. It was pleasant to relax in the pool and, in the evening, in the cozy bar. The staff was incredibly polite and extremely friendly.

LOCATION Excellent location. In the immediate vicinity of the central train station. A 15-minute walk from Sule, with all its bus lines. A good starting point for exploring the city on foot. Shopping centers are in the immediate vicinity. A 30-minute taxi ride from the airport. SERVICE Excellent welcome and service. Excellent attention at every moment, whether from the housekeeping staff, restaurant staff, concierge, or the gym/spa/pool staff. PS: Please note the $200 USD security deposit required for some reservations. This should be anticipated, although it is payable by credit card (check if this option is worth according to your bank's terms and conditions applied for transaction in Myanmar). ENVIRONMENT Quiet and safe neighborhood. Elegant and comfortable hotel. Harmonious and high-quality layout. Impeccable maintenance. ROOM Superior King Bed Room: Perfect for one person, with a desk area and a small sitting area. Bright. Well laid out. Comfortable. Very good quality bedding. Clean, high-quality linens. Spacious and clean bathroom. Hot water with good pressure. Very good Wi-Fi. Conveniently placed electrical outlets. Excellent lighting. Luggage storage available (for one bag). Pleasant city view. Central air conditioning system. It worked perfectly, but I didn't find the adjustments very user-friendly. BREAKFAST Large dining room. Well-spaced buffet area, open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Elegant dining room. I preferred the back of the room for its quietness, privacy, and comfort. Attentive and courteous staff. A well-stocked and varied buffet. Yet, there was a noticeable difference in quality between the buffet, the kitchen staff, and the buffet presentation between weekdays and weekends. Some of the glass-fronted areas in the dining room were not clean at all: cobwebs, long-standing dust, and general grime. This needs improvement, as it's not what you'd expect from a hotel of this caliber. The buffet occupied most of my mornings; however, I'm not sure I would have wanted to pay an additional $20 USD for it if it wasn't already included in the reservation. FACILITIES *The hotel has all the facilities one would expect for a hotel of this standard. In conclusion, I benefited from a very good price offer through Trip.com, which accurately reflected the hotel's value for money. I was truly delighted with my stay and will keep the PARKROYAL on my list of favorites for a future trip.

Every time I visit Myanmar, I stay here. I've probably accumulated at least two months of stays over time. However, I've never received a complimentary room upgrade, regardless of whether it's high or low season. They really need to work on customer loyalty. This time, there was extremely loud banging and drumming going on at the hotel.

Review: The Governor’s Residence, Yangon The Governor’s Residence remains one of Yangon’s most atmospheric and elegant hotels, combining colonial charm with modern comfort. Rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated, featuring polished teak floors, four-poster beds, and traditional Burmese textiles that reflect the building’s heritage. Balconies overlook either the lush gardens or the inviting fan-shaped swimming pool, creating a sense of calm retreat. The service is consistently warm, professional, and attentive without being intrusive, with staff eager to share local knowledge and assist with arrangements. Dining is a highlight. The open-air restaurant offers refined Burmese and international dishes, prepared with fresh ingredients and presented with flair. Breakfast under the wide verandas, with tropical birdsong in the background, is especially memorable. Afternoon cocktails by the pool or an evening meal by candlelight evoke the romantic grandeur of a bygone era. What sets the Governor’s Residence apart is its atmosphere: it is not simply a hotel but a living reminder of Yangon’s colonial past, reimagined with comfort and grace. Whether visiting on business or leisure, guests leave with a sense of serenity and timeless elegance. For those seeking a blend of history, luxury, and authentic Burmese hospitality, this residence is an exceptional choice.

Chatruim Lake View Hotel was a superb experience - I stayed here twice for about 8 days in total. The process from Check in to check out was second to none. We loved the hotel grounds, big rooms with a lake view, the breakfast was great too with a good selection of food.  The service from the bellboy to reception I can't really complain as they responded to all our requests. We checked out early for a flight to Mandalay and they provided us with a packed lunch. The pool facilities were great - alhough I think the water needs a bit of chlorine for cleaning as it was a bit musky - The hotel was nice and quiet with not too many guest, but service was still there. I'd like to mention the receptionist who is always smiling and so kind and welcoming and listening to our travel stories and requests - La Min and Mr Simon were so helpful, but I can't remember the other names. One thing to note- if you don't have a car, then it's not that central to the center of the city, however, you can easily take a Grab to Shwedagon Pagoda or the center, you can also walk to Kandagwyi Lake Graden and enjoy the sunset - which is only a 15 min walk and there is a mall there, too with a great supermarket. If you need to change money - the hotel recommended 126 Grocery Store - great rates no passport needed just new crisp USD notes. It's near Myanmar Plaza. I will definitely stay there again. We stayed in the Lake View but if you prefer the morning sun on your balcony then you can take the Pagoda view.  There is a presendential suite if you have the cash which I was told has a good overall top floor view. I hope you enjoy your stay. This was definitely much better than the Chatruim in Bangkok

The front desk staff were very rude – no eye contact, expressionless faces, and unhelpful attitude. There is no room service available in the morning. I requested a water bottle to be sent to my room at 8:30 AM, but was told that room service only starts after 11 AM and that I should go buy water myself from the convenience store.

I was very satisfied with my stay at this hotel for my business trip. The lobby was clean and grand, and the staff were professional and courteous, responding promptly to requests. The room was spacious with excellent natural light, and spotlessly clean. The mattress was just right, ensuring a good night's sleep. The internet was stable, more than sufficient for work, and there was 24-hour hot water. The surrounding area has convenient transportation and complete amenities, yet it's quiet and not noisy, making it ideal for business travelers. Overall, the experience was comfortable and hassle-free. It's definitely worth staying here again.

I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. The room was clean, and the location is good. But most important is the staff. All of them are so friendly and always ready to help you. Always smiling. It is not quite easy to put a fair review for this hotel. At a very first glance, with the ongoing political unrest in Myanmar, the effort to reopen the hotel and rehire all the staff deserve a great compliment. Nonetheless, the shortfall in service and amenities should not be compromised with the situation and some area such as cleanliness should not fall short especially when the hotel priced themselves at the highest in the city. The management should really consider to focus on guests service and sincere hospitality and that they can have customers who are willing to pay at any price rather that worked any way possible to cut the cost and let the staff to deal with insufficient amenities and services.
