„The perfect base for a Lisbon trip, captivating in every way from service to cuisine! Choosing to stay at the newly opened Andaz hotel was the best decision I made for this Lisbon trip! From the excellent location and attentive service to the rave-worthy dining, the entire journey was filled with surprises and fond memories.
First, let's talk about the service. From the moment I stepped through the door, every staff member displayed warm and professional Portuguese hospitality. Check-in wasn't done standing at a high-pressure counter; instead, I was comfortably seated on a sofa, sipping a glass of Port wine or sparkling water offered by the staff. The entire process was elegant and unhurried. At the front desk, the team members were not only incredibly warm and friendly but also meticulously attentive to guests' needs and conversation details. They'd proactively remember your soccer scores or where you traveled from, chatting with you like old friends, making you truly feel 'seen' rather than just another booking number being processed. Throughout my stay, inquiries about sightseeing and restaurant recommendations were answered patiently and thoroughly. The whole atmosphere was welcoming and professional.
The entire hotel was also exceptionally clean and comfortable. After all, it's a brand new property officially opened on March 11, 2026, so all the hardware and linens were maintained at the most reassuring level. Staying in such a spotless space in the historic Baixa district, from every corner of the guest room to the iconic public spaces within the building, maintained incredibly high standards of cleanliness, making for an immensely comfortable stay.
The ambiance was definitely a highlight of this stay. The hotel is housed in a former ancient bank building, now cleverly renovated, with artful blends of old and new evident everywhere. The guest room design incorporates numerous iconic Portuguese elements, such as cork decor, mosaic tiles, and mahogany, giving it a grand yet locally soulful feel. What was most impressive was that the rooms were equipped with Byredo bath products, a 55-inch high-tech TV, and immersive art installations, while the bathrooms were covered in natural stone reddish-brown tiles, revealing thoughtful touches everywhere. The hotel itself is located in the heart of Baixa, near the famous Augusta Street and Praça do Comércio. Pushing open the window, you can gaze at the Tagus River and São Jorge Castle in the distance. Strolling through the cobblestone alleys every day was an immersive cultural experience.
Next, I must enthusiastically praise the breakfast. Dining at the Luzzi rooftop restaurant every morning was a true pleasure – the breakfast selection was incredibly diverse, offering buffet, American, or continental options. The quality of the freshly sliced Iberian ham, fresh fruits, and various local Portuguese pastries available at the buffet was exceptionally high! From traditional Portuguese egg tarts to freshly squeezed juices, every bite felt invigorating. Starting the day by enjoying a sumptuous breakfast with the gentle morning sun on the rooftop, overlooking Praça do Comércio and the Tagus River, was simply wonderful!
Finally, I want to talk separately about dinner. The hotel's new Portuguese cuisine blends world flavors left behind by the country's centuries of Age of Discoveries. We specifically tried their seafood paella; the rice absorbed the essence of seafood and broth, with an authentic and rich texture that was not greasy at all, completely overturning our stereotype of mediocre hotel dining. Besides the paella, the menu also featured high-quality dishes like freshly caught fish wrapped in banana leaves and local octopus salad, perfect for pairing with local Portuguese Vinho Verde wine. Coupled with the live music at the rooftop bar and the panoramic city night view, the entire dining experience was incredibly romantic and memorable.
In summary, if you're looking for a hotel in Lisbon that is impeccable from the check-in experience to the dining quality, and truly allows you to feel the local pulse and luxurious flair, Andaz Lisbon is an absolute excellent choice not to be missed!”
