„The location was excellent, just near Zermatt Bahnhof and easily accessible from most places. The room came with a balcony overlooking the mountains, offering a stunning view — we even watched black neck sheep while enjoying our dinner and coffee. The stay was comfortable overall, though note that no amenities like toothbrushes or shavers were provided. Breakfast offered a decent spread of continental options with limited hot food, but the croissants were especially commendable.”

„My stay at this hotel was a wonderful experience! The hotel was priced at 500 euros per night for my room... Personally, I thought it was well worth it! This is because (1) A light course dinner is included (2) Breakfast buffet is included (3) It costs 60 euros round trip & takes about 1.5 hours to climb up here, so you can't get up and down so much and you don't know the weather on the mountain. The mountain railroad ends at 20:00 at night, so from then until morning, the top of the mountain will be monopolized by hotel guests. So, considering all these factors, I thought it was rather a good deal. In fact, I was able to capture the cloudless Matterhorn on my way home after checking out at the very end! So I recommend this hotel”

„I had a wonderful stay at this charming small hotel, beautifully decorated and conveniently located near Zermatt train station. During my stay, a snowstorm caused a power outage and all train services were suspended, making it impossible to leave the town. Despite these unexpected circumstances, the hotel took excellent care of us. They provided helpful information, allowed us to extend our stay without any additional charges, and showed incredible kindness throughout. The hotel owner was especially warm and accommodating, making a difficult situation much easier for us. I truly appreciated their hospitality and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Zermatt.”

„Location is slightly further from the train station, however you can hire a local EV taxi for est. CHF5/person from hotel to the train station (together with your luggages). Breakfast spread was decent and would recommend if you’re traveling on a budget to Zermatt. Down the road you’re able to see this Matterhorn view!”

„Location – 10/10 Nestled high above Zermatt, the Riffelhaus 1853 is accessible via the Gornergrat railway, making the journey itself an adventure. Once you arrive, you’re greeted by panoramic mountain views in every direction, with the iconic Matterhorn standing proudly in front of you. The setting is perfect for ski-in/ski-out access in winter and stunning hiking trails in summer. Rooms – 9/10 The rooms are cozy, modern, and well-equipped while still maintaining a classic Swiss alpine charm. Many rooms come with Matterhorn views, and waking up to this scenery is an experience in itself. The beds are comfortable, and the rustic wooden decor gives a warm, welcoming feel. Some rooms have balconies, which I highly recommend booking for the full experience. Service – 9/10 The staff is friendly, professional, and attentive. Despite the hotel’s remote location, the service is top-notch, with staff going out of their way to accommodate special requests. From seamless check-in to helpful local recommendations, they make the stay even more special. Dining – 8.5/10 The on-site restaurant serves delicious Swiss cuisine, including traditional dishes like fondue and rösti. The breakfast is generous, featuring fresh bread, cheeses, meats, and eggs cooked to order. The only downside is that, due to the remote location, dining options are limited to the hotel restaurant, but the quality makes up for it. Wellness & Spa – 10/10 The outdoor hot tub with a view of the Matterhorn is an absolute highlight! There’s also a sauna and steam bath, perfect after a day of skiing or hiking. Soaking in the warm water while surrounded by snow-capped peaks is an experience worth every penny. Activities – 10/10 Winter: Perfect for skiing, as the hotel is directly on the slopes. The ski room is convenient, and the access to the Gornergrat ski area is unbeatable. Summer: Incredible hiking trails with direct access to the Gornergratbahn for easy excursions to higher altitudes.”

„The hotel is only about a 5 minute walk from the train station, which is very convenient. However, check-in needs to be done at another hotel located behind this one, which can be a bit confusing at first. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Please note that the hotel entrance is accessed via a long and slippery staircase. Guests traveling with large or heavy luggage, elderly travelers, or those with mobility issues should take extra care. The room is very small and the soundproofing is quite poor, especially in the bathroom,even turning around can be a challenge.As the hotel faces the road, there is no view of the Matterhorn. Overall, the stay was acceptable and reasonable for a short stay.”

„ツェルマットの駅から歩いて10分ほど。メインストリートとは反対の方向になるが静かで落ち着いた雰囲気。 スネガ行きのケーブルカー乗り場はすぐそば（歩3分） 部屋にポットはなかったが（頼めば）沸騰水を融通してもらえたので数回は利用してとても助かった。 サウナ、プールなどはないが、バスタブがある部屋だったのでそれなりにくつろぐことができまた。 （9月だったが）外気温はずいぶん低く寒かったが、部屋には暖房が入れられていたので快適に過ごすことができた。 チェックアウト時のツェルマット駅への送迎は、5 フラン/人でした。（直接予約の人は、Free ）”

„Incredibly friendly and helpful staff - made it a very nice experience to stay in this hotel and can recommend it for anybody wanting a quieter location halfway between the train station and the Matterhorn cable car. ”

„The hotel was in 5 minutes walking from Zermatt train station and it offered free shuttle for check in and out as there was a steep path to the hotel entrance, not good to walk with luggages. I booked 2 bedrooms family suite but only with one bathroom which was the downside. However, the total space of 60 meter sq with a decent living room and a small balcony facing Matterhorn were a plus to the overall stay. There were some minor defects and the staff fixed efficiently. They had an indoor pool, a jacuzzi and a sauna room. I had to mention that the jacuzzi was of high standard and you must go after a day of hiking. So bring your swimming suit. However, please note that in there culture, no clothes are allowed to enter the sauna room and it is in mixed genders. The breakfast buffet was lack of choices. But I had to specially name Mr Fernando, he always welcome us with very good coffee and of course his warm greetings in the morning. Suggestion to the hotel: 1. Stated clearly the number of bathroom/ toilet in the booking details regarding my booking is a 2 bedrooms suite. 2. More choices for breakfast, my family stays 4 nights there. Everyday, the menu is same. 3. The pool was closed at 8pm, will be better if it closes at 9pm as it was rather rush for the guests to use after dinner. Overall, I recommend this hotel to family. I will come back again.”
