"Booked for 3 nights on strength of 4 out of 5 review. Within 2 hours of checking in asked to change rooms as we were put in a room that backed on to the lift shaft with no soundproofing and it was noisy with lots of clanging and banging. The staff were great and accommodated our request without hesitation. The next room we were given we had an issue with very loud music coming from neighbouring room. We informed the reception who promptly dealt with this. The rooms are very dated with lots of wear and tear. The mattress was uncomfortable and bigger than the base it sat on and had a stained valance. And the pillows were inadequate. There were no bin liners and the shower had mould and the shower control came off in my hand. The lobby and dining area are very good but the rooms are not. Didn’t eat there so can’t say what the food is like. We only stayed for one night out of the three and checked in to another hotel. This hotel needs investment, the rooms need to be refitted and the hotel needs soundproofing."
