⭐ Royal View Hotel Tsuen Wan — Beautiful Facilities & Great Beach, but Shockingly Poor Front‑Desk Service My wife and I stayed at Royal View Hotel in Tsuen Wan, and the hotel itself is genuinely beautiful. The property is clean, well‑maintained, and located near a gorgeous beach, which adds a lot to the overall atmosphere. We also really enjoyed the pool and sauna, and the pool attendants were polite, friendly, and professional — a real highlight of our stay. Unfortunately, the front‑desk service was consistently unpleasant, and it stood in stark contrast to the quality of the hotel’s facilities. We arrived around 12 p.m. and were told check‑in wasn’t until after 3 p.m., which was completely fine. But without me saying anything, the woman at the desk responded with “those are the rules, too bad,” in a rude, dismissive tone. I hadn’t questioned the policy at all, so her attitude was genuinely surprising and uncalled for. Later, when it was after 3 p.m., I went back to the front desk and asked, “Can I check in now?” A different woman looked at me with clear disdain and replied, “What?” in a harsh, unfriendly way. I repeated myself, and she continued to stare at me until another staff member stepped in and offered to help. The attitude from almost every person at the front desk was strangely hostile, as if guests were inconveniences rather than customers. The same pattern continued when we asked about late check‑out. We were told, in another harsh tone, “There’s no late check‑out here. You need to leave before 12.” Again, the issue wasn’t the policy — it was the rude, unprofessional way it was delivered. At one point, I asked a staff member if they had a razor available. The response was, “We don’t have razors, it’s Hong Kong law,” said in a very unpleasant manner. My 9‑year‑old son later told me that razors were available for purchase in the vending machine — something the staff member failed to mention. It would have taken only a few seconds to say, “You can buy one downstairs,” but instead I was met with unnecessary rudeness. The contrast between this experience and our recent stay at Crown Hotel in Shenzhen, where the staff were warm, polite, and welcoming, was dramatic. At Royal View, the front‑desk staff behaved as if they were doing us a favor, and their attitude felt completely untrained and unprofessional. It’s genuinely sad, because we loved the hotel itself — the facilities, the cleanliness, the pool, the sauna, and the beautiful beach nearby were all excellent. But the poor customer service at the front desk seriously affected our stay. With proper training and a more respectful approach to guests, this hotel could easily offer an outstanding experience.

The only advantage is direct access to the airport; you don't have to worry about getting wet walking through the covered walkway to the terminal. Other drawbacks include, but are not limited to: 1. The rooms need urgent renovation. Not only is the decor outdated, but there's a strong musty smell as soon as you enter. 2. The hotel corridors are dimly lit like a maze; if you've seen the movie 'The Shining,' you'll understand what I mean. 3. There are so few power outlets, and only British-style large plugs plus old USB ports. For a place like Hong Kong International Airport, which welcomes travelers from all over the world, this is even worse than a Hanting Hotel. Anyway, as the only hotel with direct access to Hong Kong International Airport terminal, the Regal Hotel offers unparalleled convenience. Their attitude is basically 'take it or leave it.' For those arriving late on a connecting flight or needing to catch an early flight, it's an acceptable place to crash for a night.

Before my trip, I was searching for hotels with Victoria Harbour views and stumbled upon Kerry Hotel, which had excellent reviews and great value for money. I saw that it had zero negative reviews and the sea view rooms offered a panoramic floor-to-ceiling view of the harbour. As hotel prices tend to go up during the National Day holiday, after some research, I decided Kerry Hotel offered the best value. I promptly booked a sea view room. I checked in after 10 PM, and the check-in process was seamless. The hotel lobby was absolutely stunning. Upon entering my room on the 12th floor, I was utterly captivated by the night view of Victoria Harbour – it was incredibly beautiful! Waking up the next morning and drawing the curtains to reveal the morning harbour view was even more breathtaking. Throughout my stay, I absolutely loved admiring the stunning scenery from my bedside; it truly lifted my spirits. The hotel breakfast is also highly recommended, with a wide variety of Western and Hong Kong-style options, all delicious. As a family of four, my son and daughter also enjoyed the hotel breakfast.

I chose The Empire Hotel Causeway Bay primarily for its location. It's incredibly convenient for shopping, dining, and the MTR, making it easy to get around even with luggage. The front desk service was decent; communication was smooth, and they even offered a free late check-out, which was a lifesaver for catching a late flight. Breakfast was standard fare – filling but nothing to write home about. The hotel's drawbacks were also quite apparent – typical for Hong Kong hotels, the rooms are on the small side. With two people and suitcases, it felt a bit cramped. Waiting for elevators during peak hours could be a bit tedious. Most of the guests were mainland tourists, making it lively but not exactly quiet.

This was my first time experiencing such excellent service in Hong Kong, completely changing my previous negative impression. This hotel offers great value for money, and its convenient location is much quieter than the bustling Tsim Sha Tsui, a popular spot for tourists. I'll definitely choose to stay here again in the future. A big thank you to Teresa and Foster at the front desk for upgrading our room type for the kids – that's a rare treat during the holidays! The room service staff were also wonderful, and the beds were made up so comfortably. All in all, Harbour Plaza Metropolis is a hidden gem and gets five stars! 👍

This trip was an unexpected delight! I managed to snag a package for less than 700 a night and was surprisingly able to book it for the day after the Mid-Autumn Festival. They even upgraded us to a suite! The hotel was almost fully booked, and there were a lot of people. The room had a separate wet and dry area and was huge by Hong Kong standards, even with a large balcony. The only minor drawback was that the room was a bit far from the elevator, requiring a long walk, and we had to get water from the hallway dispenser. The hotel's buffet dinner was great, costing less than 700 for two. The outdoor freshly grilled beef, lamb, pork, shrimp, and pineapple were the highlight, packed with a fantastic charcoal aroma. I would definitely return if there are any promotions.

Our room was ready for check-in at 2 PM after being cleaned. At the front desk, we were also informed that the hotel offered many activities for both kids and adults. Upon entering the room, we were greeted by a dry citrus scent. I had expected a beachfront hotel might have a slightly damp smell, but the room was quite tidy. The water dispenser and coffee machine (with 3 capsules provided daily) were a nice touch, and the hotel even provided a universal adapter, so no worries if you forget yours. Slippers, bath towels, and even small notebooks all featured cute Mickey and Minnie designs. The in-room toiletries were from the Rituals brand, with a sweet orange scent, and this same brand was used throughout the hotel's other common areas. For breakfast, we tried both restaurants. The buffet restaurant had a wide variety of delicious options, which I really enjoyed. The other restaurant offered a set menu, which was also quite good and offered better value for money. After leaving the Disneyland Metro station, we easily found the shuttle bus. Just make sure to look for the hotel's logo so you don't board the wrong one. Luggage storage is free both before check-in and after check-out, which is very convenient. Also, with your hotel room key card, you can use the fast entry lane on the far right at the park entrance. Finally, the mosquito repellent products readily available in the hotel's public areas were a truly thoughtful touch!

The room is comfortable and clean, and the surrounding environment is pleasant. It's a great place to stay for a night after visiting Disneyland for the day. Just remember, if you miss their free shuttle after watching the Disneyland fireworks at night, you can take a public bus directly there. There's also a 7-Eleven nearby for convenience. If you book a sea view room, you can really wake up to a beautiful view of the sea in the morning. If you have some time, you can also take a stroll around the town.

The room was a bit old-fashioned, and there were only two power outlets. Luckily, I brought a couple of multi-port adapters, otherwise charging my phone and camera would have been a hassle. No bottled water was provided in the room, only tap water. While it's eco-friendly, it's not very convenient and detracted from the experience. The hotel's surroundings are excellent. There are many bars and restaurants downstairs, and a Wellcome Supermarket and 7-Eleven nearby. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel, making it very convenient to get to Central and the West Kowloon Cultural Corridor. Just a heads-up, the MTR station is quite a distance, so it might not be convenient if you have a lot of luggage. I'd like to praise the front desk service. On my first night, I was on the 4th floor, and the 3rd floor was the swimming pool. The room was incredibly damp. When I woke up in the morning, I had two bites, probably from some insect. After I reported it to the front desk, they immediately moved me to a room on the 16th floor for the remaining two days! Oh, and the hotel breakfast was decent. It wasn't very diverse, but it was definitely not bad and filling.

I was really pleased to get a weekday rate during the National Day holiday! This time, I noticed the lobby has changed. After dropping off my luggage around noon, I didn't get my room until nearly 4 PM (it was really busy, and I was on the 41st floor). They even upgraded me to a room on the 60th floor in the high-rise! I was so happy, but... the kids in the next room were incredibly active, still shouting and screaming at 11 PM. The soundproofing in the room is terrible; you can hear people walking by outside, and the opening and closing of the next-door room's door is so loud... it was awful! I barely slept all night, and the worst part is... for some reason, I felt like I was being bitten all night, and I was still itchy the next day 😭😷 Facilities: I have to complain about the sink – it drains very slowly. And the shower wasn't great either, constantly alternating between hot and cold water...
