This is the best ever hotel I have ever been to in Japan. The name Richmond guarantees so many things. You can count on it. Even though it’s not in a big city like Tokyo or Osaka, but if you are visiting Morioka - choose this hotel. It worth every penny of yours. The staffs are so helpful, dedicated and dependable at anytime and any situation you need. All staffs say that their English are not good, but I who lived in London for many years would say that their skill is more than just okay. Even the housekeepers are still nice. I have some problems with my luggage transfers to the airport from the hotel and they are trying their best to help me alleviate those.
There is a free service lounge from noon to 8pm in the 2nd floor. The microwave oven and ice machine on the 7th floor. The coin washing machine is also located on the 7th floor - 500 yens for wash and dry. Convenient store(Lawson) is on the ground floor with direct access from the lobby.
I’ve stayed on the 9th floor. The room is big and the view of the station was fabulous. Free WiFi is available. And the TV system communicates with all the system of the hotel shows all the information you need - even the time left of the coin washing machine that you used.
Yakiniku and many delicious restaurants just around the corner from the hotel.
Definitely will stay here again anytime I visit Morioka.
The service is outstanding since my first step into the hotel. The room is big like i can run around. Breakfast is great. Plenty of good food served as japanese set. Onsen is really comfortable. I went there in summer that there were not many tourists. So sometime, there was only me in the onsen. It was very quiet peaceful and relaxing
A mark for those who books for dinner excluded bundle. There are rarely any restaurant around. There is one in front of the street corner (5mins walk) but the opening time and date could not be expected. You can find something to eat from Family mart (20 mins walk).
This is a highly recommended and convenient hotel right in Morioka. The location is perfect: it's situated directly across from the train station, easily accessible via the underground walkway. It's also near Kaiunbashi, one of Morioka's signature spots, offering a great scenic view. For ultimate convenience, there's a 7-Eleven located right on the ground floor of the hotel.
Beyond the location, the staff are very nice and incredibly helpful. The lobby provides an impressive array of amenities, more generous than many hotels I've visited. The room size is comfortable, and the bathroom is spacious, meeting the excellent standards of the Daiwa Roynet brand.
Overall very good place but a little difficult to find without maps because the sign on the front is not very big nor well lit. also the main entrance is not where you expect it but below ground level.
I chose this hotel for a short stay in Morioka and specifically needed on-site parking, which it delivers conveniently within the same building.
The rooms are clean and feel noticeably more luxurious compared to many older hotels in Japan. The interior finishes are modern, well maintained, and immediately give a sense of quality. The lobby is spacious and welcoming, making arrival and check-in comfortable rather than cramped.
Overall, this is a practical and well-executed choice for travelers who need parking without compromising on room quality or comfort.
The hotel is loaded with tourist groups who are unfortunately pretty rowdy and rude. Service at the hotel itself was excellent, and for the price and location it’s a reasonable stay, as a ski-in-ski-out hotel. Breakfast is a standard Prince Hotel buffet.
The location is beautiful and the views from the car park assured us we had chosen well. Check in was helpful and all facilities were fully explained at this time, allowing us to book our dining time.
The room was comfortable and traditional; the view, amazing! With an afternoon of sunshine, time was taken to enjoy the view in a temperature controlled setting. There was a beautiful tea set and tea provided along with some complementary snacks and water. The toiletries provided were lovely and I shall certainly be looking to purchase these for my home.
Dinner was a Chinese style buffet, with an excellent selection of dishes. Barbecues for the table and delicious sashimi and hand prepared sushi. Soups, stews, salad and more! To follow was an assortment of cakes and ice creams. Staff were very helpful and polite and the food was filling and delicious. We then retired to the hotel bar where we were again greeted by a lovely member of staff.
Upon return to our room, futons had been prepared and the room made ready for sleep. These were surprisingly comfortable.
Breakfast was also delicious with a huge array of dishes to choose from. Check out was simple and staff were helpful and polite.
I will definitely be returning!

I was looking for a hotel for my trip to Morioka when I found out this hotel was opening that day, so I booked it right away.
The lobby, guest rooms, and lounge were all beautiful, stylish, and wonderful.
The large public bath had a sauna, which was very relaxing.
The breakfast, which I had been looking forward to, was even more delicious than I expected, and I ate a lot. I definitely want to stay here again the next time I travel to Morioka.

Amazing
IIrisjgzThis was my first trip to Japan's Tohoku region. The Richmond Hotel Morioka is visible right after exiting the JR station. When traveling in Japan, I generally choose hotels near JR stations for their unparalleled convenience in dining, accommodation, transportation, and shopping. I'm especially pleased with the Richmond Morioka. The rooms are slightly larger than hotels in other cities, and the floor-to-ceiling windows make them feel bright and airy. The cleanliness and facilities were satisfactory, and the front desk staff provided excellent service. The check-in/check-out times were better than in other areas. The bedding was very comfortable, and the hotel's soundproofing was excellent, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. If I visit the Tohoku region again, I'll definitely use Morioka as my base, and the Richmond will undoubtedly be my top choice.
JjuLiaNa sImStunning location! Walked into the lobby and was floored by panoramic views of the cape.
The hotel isn't modern or new, but it's well-maintained. Stayed in the tatami room and it's extremely spacious.
Opt for the dinner buffet as there aren't lots of dining options unless you drive. Breakfast was full of Western and Japanese options. Oiishi!
GGuest UserThe hotel is located deeper in the mountains than I expected. From Morioka, I took a bus at 7:30 PM, and after about an hour and a half, most people had gotten off within 20 minutes, leaving me on a secluded road with almost no lights. Eating out at night would be nearly impossible.

SStaliciousWe had a pleasant stay in general. However, room ceaning service needs to be improved. Our group of people have a few bad experiences.
1) after returning to room after the day, there was a used mask left in the bathroom. There’s also a day without providing onsen towels and we had to bring over the mid size ones
2) the door of my friend’s room remained open after the cleaning service (a 3M sticker with なすし2 sticked on wall). Glad there’s no missing items
3) another room, there was blood and urine stint left on the toilet cover!
I hope the hotel can take it seriously as it indeed ruins the brand of IHG and bad customer experience.

VVicwangxThe lady at the front desk was very enthusiastic and helped us by recommending attractions and nearby ski resorts. It was very convenient to get to the ski resort, and the place was clean and hygienic.
GGuest UserI stayed in a moderate single room. It was beautifully renovated and very cute. It was directly connected to the station, so it was very convenient to be able to buy various souvenirs in the station building.

AAngeloooThe hotel's location is excellent, just a 3-minute walk to Kaiun Bridge. Parking is mechanical and costs 1100 JPY per day. The in-room toiletries are from DHC, which is a nice touch! What truly stands out, however, is the hotel's breakfast on the top floor. The view is absolutely stunning, with clear sights of Mount Iwate. The restaurant staff are incredibly energetic and friendly – they truly deserve praise! The cleaning staff were also very polite.
