Our stay at Cloud Villa (Yunduanjingyuan Mountain View Homestay) was, without question, one of the highlights of our trip to Zhangjiajie. My friend and I stayed for four nights, and from the moment we arrived until the moment we left, we were treated with a level of warmth and hospitality that far exceeded our expectations. The homestay itself is absolutely stunning. Our room was beautifully designed and tastefully decorated, with breathtaking mountain views that we looked forward to waking up to each morning. Every detail of the room felt thoughtfully curated, and the luxurious bathtub was my favorite way to relax after long days of hiking and exploring Zhangjiajie’s incredible scenery. The service was exceptional from start to finish. After our late-night flight from Xi’an, we were greeted at the airport and driven to the homestay in a beautiful, comfortable car. Every morning we were treated to an incredible homemade breakfast prepared by their wonderful housekeeper. We got to personally choose our breakfast the evening before, and it would be freshly prepared each morning. It was delicious, filling, and the perfect way to fuel up before a day of exploring the national parks. What truly made our stay unforgettable, however, were the people. The homestay is run by an incredibly kind and generous owner who welcomed us not as customers, but as family. She took the time to get to know us, shared stories about her own life, and consistently went above and beyond to make us feel at home. The manager was equally outstanding. He was always ready to help with our luggage, answer our questions, and make sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. Since we were foreigners visiting Zhangjiajie for the first time, his assistance was invaluable. He helped us arrange tickets in advance for both Tianmen Mountain and Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (the “Avatar Mountains”), and recommended optimal routes for us to take making everything incredibly smooth and stress-free. What impressed us even more was the genuine care they showed us as people. During our trip, my friend became sick, and the manager regularly checked in on her to make sure she had everything she needed to recover comfortably. Later, after I slipped and suffered a minor injury while visiting one of the parks, he showed the same sincere concern for my well-being. Their kindness never felt transactional, it was genuine. He really is quite exceptional! The owner saved the best surprise for our final day. We planned to spend the day at Tianmen Mountain before heading directly to the airport. Rather than having us store our luggage in a crowded locker facility, she generously offered to drive us to the park, keep our luggage safely in her own car throughout the day, and then take us directly to the airport afterward. That alone would have been incredibly thoughtful. But then she surprised us again! Before taking us to the airport, she prepared a wonderful homemade meal featuring fresh oysters, shrimp, eggplant, mixed vegetables, and rice! It was one of the most memorable meals of our trip, not only because it was delicious, but because it was prepared with such genuine generosity and care. We left for our flight with full stomachs and even fuller hearts. Because of the incredible hospitality we experienced at Cloud Villa, our time in Hunan became even more memorable than we could have imagined. There are many accommodations with beautiful rooms, but it is rare to find people who make you feel so genuinely welcomed and cared for. She even gave us cute parting gifts to commemorate our stay! To anyone, especially international travelers, planning a visit to Zhangjiajie, I cannot recommend Cloud Villa enough! If I ever return to the area, there is no question about where I’ll stay. I’ll gladly return not only for the beautiful accommodations, but to visit the wonderful people who made us feel like family. Thank you for making our trip truly unforgettable!

Our Zhangjiajie trip was actually a last-minute change — we only decided to reroute here three days before arriving, during the second half of our journey. And honestly, choosing this guesthouse turned out to be the best decision I made. Right after booking, I reached out to the owner about the itinerary, routes, tickets — basically everything — and she saved us from so many potential headaches. When we got there, she sat down with us and went through the routes in detail, even pointing out some lesser-known spots that were totally worth it. That really helped us slow down and properly soak in this stunning natural wonder of a city. The location itself is super convenient — just a few minutes' walk from the east gate of the scenic area. There's parking out front, and the surrounding area is packed with shops, restaurants, and mini-marts, so you never have to go far for anything. The room? Clean, comfortable, and quiet — great for a solid night's sleep. Loved the smart home setup and the heated towel rack was a nice touch. There's also a few washing machines and dryers available, which was a lifesaver. They even put extra drinking water at the staircase for you to grab each morning before heading out, and you can borrow trekking poles and umbrellas too. But what really stood out was the owner and her brother — warm, thoughtful, and clearly running this place with a lot of heart. Thanks to them, we genuinely enjoyed our time in Zhangjiajie. I'll definitely be recommending this place to friends and family, and if we ever come back with family members, this will be our first choice. Fantastic stay! Great value for money, and the location is superb. It's about a 20-minute walk from the Forest Park, the facilities are new, and the service is excellent, plus they allow pets for free. The location is excellent. It’s about a 20-minute walk to the East Gate of Forest Park (and roughly 8 minutes from the bus station, where you can catch a bus to the South Gate). The parking lot is right at the hotel, which is very convenient. Hygiene: The bedding was clean, but housekeeping after check-in can be hit or miss since the staff finishes at 12 PM. -0.2 Service: The front desk staff was very welcoming and professional. They even carefully reviewed my booking notes and requests, which was a nice touch and genuinely appreciated. Facilities: The hotel facilities are quite new (they have a Tmall Genie, but the toilet doesn't have a bidet function -0.1, though it is a smart toilet). There's a small issue with the accessibility facilities, as a section is missing -0.25 (however, the hotel staff will assist with luggage). Comfort: The hotel's design is simple and stylish. Dining: The room is spacious, and while they don't offer meals, there is a kitchen. Bonus Points: Not only did I get a room upgrade +0.5, but also a late check-out +0.5, a refrigerator +0.5, and a kitchen +0.5 (on a side note, I even saw a butler helping a foreign guest with Taobao shopping issues). Drawbacks: Despite the no-smoking signs, there was still a smell of smoke in the hallway. -0.5

This newly renovated hotel is on par with a star-rated hotel. The environment is comfortable, all kinds of facilities are complete, and the hygiene standards are very high. The staff are attentive and responsible, always ready to help solve any problems. The shuttle service to the East Gate of the scenic area is very convenient, and the lobby offers complimentary snacks and drinks. The surrounding amenities are excellent, with shops just a two-minute walk away. The night view of the stream's light show is absolutely stunning.

Booked this hotel by chance, and it was pretty clean. The hot water came out fast and had good pressure, and the air conditioning was excellent. The rice noodles for breakfast were delicious, definitely worth trying – much better than the Zhou Ji noodles (my personal opinion), which were a complete mess. One minor issue: the toilet splashed water when you sat on it. On the bright side, the subway station is right on the -1 floor, making transportation very convenient.

The location is absolutely fantastic! It's a one-minute walk to IFS, one minute to Pozi Street, and five minutes to Taiping Old Street. The subway is just two minutes away. The hotel environment is pretty great; it should satisfy even those with high standards. Regarding facility issues: 1. There's nowhere to hang clothes to dry. 2. The shower drain has poor drainage. Regarding service issues: I'd say there's basically zero service. There was no phone call to confirm my booking beforehand. They didn't notify me in advance about road closures near the hotel. The cleaning staff knocked on my door to clean at 8 or 9 AM. Do I really need housekeeping when I'm only staying one night? Can't they confirm with the front desk if the guest has checked out instead of knocking to check?

The room was exceptionally clean, with soft and dry bedding. The bathroom came equipped with disposable towels and toiletries, and the smart toilet was very convenient to use. The guesthouse itself was quiet and peaceful, with excellent natural light and ventilation. It was fully furnished with all the necessary appliances, making daily life very easy. The front desk staff were warm and attentive, providing clear check-in instructions and prompt replies to any questions. The location is excellent, close to dining and shopping, with complete amenities nearby. The value for money far exceeded my expectations; it felt as comfortable as home. This will be my first choice for accommodation whenever I'm in the area again. I sincerely recommend it to anyone traveling.

The owners, a husband and wife, are incredibly kind and thoughtful, truly educated and high-class individuals. The room was huge, spotlessly clean in every corner, and both the pillows and bed were super comfortable. The view from the window was beautiful. During our stay, it happened to be the Dragon Boat Festival, and the hostess even prepared delicious homemade *zongzi* (rice dumplings) and fruit for us. One morning, we went to do laundry, and by the time we finished breakfast, our clothes were already hung out to dry! She also kindly helped us receive and handle a package. The hostess recommended an excellent barber shop and patiently answered all our questions. The hotel's location is perfect. There are many great food options, clothing stores, and sports shops just a short walk away. Right behind the hotel is a stunning river view, complete with a charming little stone bridge you can cross, and kids can even play by the river. Everything you need for food, clothing, housing, and transportation is incredibly convenient. We'll definitely be back to stay again! 🥰

Cool property! It’s an old building, so insulation is not existing, so keeping the climate nice it’s a bit of a balance. But the stay is absolutely unique and the location could not be better. Yes, you don’t have a direct view on the waterfall, but you don’t need that when you are in this town. You get it from all the restaurants and from the walking around. The view from this hotel is also absolutely fantastic, to the bridge and to the village. The rooms are spacious and the staff is very nice. We will come back.

As travelers who speak a limited amount of Mandarin and prefer a measured pace, we found the experience both rewarding and stress-free. **Key Advantages & Location** The hotel’s primary strength is its proximity to the park’s less-frequented entrance. Being situated already ”inside” the park boundary with the ropeway just a 5 to 10-minute walk away is a significant functional advantage. Since the ropeway opens at 8:00 AM, we were able to enjoy a restful morning while still reaching the walking routes well ahead of the mid-day peak. By commencing our routes from the western side, we effectively moved ”against the crowd.” During our two-and-a-half-day visit, our average wait time for park shuttle buses, ropeways or elevators was approximately 5 minutes. Remarkably, both times we used the Bailong Elevator, we arrived at the gate ”first in line” and shared the cabin with fewer than six people. This efficiency allowed us to explore the park extensively—nearly ”looping” the park twice in a single day—without ever feeling rushed. I originally thought these logistical benefits were due to my decisions, however in hindsight, the location of the hotel was more likely the reason for this outcome. **Service and Hospitality** Our host, Kelly, was instrumental in the success of our trip. By communicating our plans early, she was able to facilitate the arrangement of park tickets, transfers, and provides some route suggestions based on her experience. Beyond logistics, we greatly appreciated her willingness to also share some cultural insights, such as the history and pop culture surrounding Wulong Zhai, which added a meaningful dimension to our visit. **Room and Facilities** We stayed in the main wing, located above the entrance and dining area. The room features met our specific needs perfectly. We noted that an elevator was in the process of being installed, which will be a welcome addition for future accessibility. **Points to Consider** * **Location Focus:** This hotel is perfect for those prioritizing the Forest Park itself. However, if your itinerary includes evening performances like ”Fox Fairy” or the other shows in Wulingyuan, you may find a more central town location more convenient. * **Environment:** We were never bothered by insects, but guests should be aware that this is a mountain location; the presence of local bugs around the exterior is natural and should be expected. * **Accessibility:** We had no mobility issues, but currently, access to the main wing requires stairs (until the elevator installation is complete). **Final Thoughts** For travelers who value a quiet, informed stay and wish to avoid the typical bottlenecks of the park’s more popular gates, this boutique hotel is an excellent choice. Having the time to engage with local suggestions and move at our own pace made our China trip feel truly personal.
