Elsewhere Xianya hotel really exceeded our expectations. The room was clean, quiet and equipped with all kind of amenities, the bed was super big and comfortable. The reception girls were the loveliest and gave us many recommendations and discount tickets for restaurants. On our departure day they even gave us a gift. I would recommend anyone staying here!

The accommodation is absolutely beautiful, with very nice details. They also left us some sweets and tea as a welcome gift, and every day they gave us a large bottle of water. The only thing I didn’t like is that during the day people come to take photos at the property, and there is quite a lot of noise until almost 10pm. Sometimes it can be annoying to hear people taking photos right outside your room. Apart from that, the accommodation is great.

The hotel encountered difficulties in processing my Taiwan pass. However, I must commend G hotel for their exceptional support and assistance. Indeed super fantastic experience. I typically do not write reviews but this hotel definitely worths a review to demonstrate what first-class service they are offering.
Fantastic location -- 3min walk to the train station. When checking in, there was a very lovely small gift, and my ID card was very well taken with even a protection shield. The staff there guided me all the way to my room, and regularly checked whether everything is okay.
Super fantastic experience.

What a pleasant surprise this stay was! (´▽`) The location is excellent, right next to the district government and very close to the ancient city, making it super convenient for getting around. There's a delicious knife-cut noodle place nearby that opens at 6:30 AM, and the Tangjiu convenience store next door also opens early. The first floor has a lovely book bar where you can borrow books for free, and they serve coffee and cocktails – perfect for enjoying a drink while reading. So many interesting books too! I also really loved their decor; the tatami mat rooms have a dedicated reading table, and the mattress was incredibly comfortable. The disposable amenities were comprehensive, and that horse oil toiletries set left me feeling moisturized inside and out (in a good way!). What really stood out during my stay were the front desk ladies. They were all so wonderful, always greeting us warmly when we returned. Their service was incredibly attentive and so heartwarming! 🥺 Any request we had was met quickly. Thanks to them, I've been sleeping so well these past few days 555. I really don't want to leave! I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Datong. I've already highly recommended it to all my friends! (￣∇￣)

GGuest UserIt was just an absolutely amazing experience from the very beginning and until the very end of our stay, not even just in the hotel, but in the city of Pingyao itself in general. Me and my friend are traveling very light and without guides, and in Pingyao we had only one day: from evening to evening of the next day. Huge huge thanks to everyone who made this day unforgettable and ultimately comfortable for tired us: Alice, Helen, Fenny, Hana, and all others who was there for us.
The hotel service is simply excellent: as soon as they learned about our late arrival, they immediately offered to meet us at the railway station, which was absolutely the sweetest thing. They brought us to the city gate, met us there, and walked us to the hotel. There they gave us a map, on which they explained in great detail where everything is, what is worth paying attention to, how it is better to build the route, and what opening hours different sights have. They also helped us organize a private transfer to Shaolin Temple the next morning. It was just perfect: we got there in 15 minutes instead of one and a half hours by foot, and after our walk in the temple they met us and brought us back. Also on the evening of arrival they helped us immediately buy the ticket for visiting all attractions of the city, valid for three days. And also they advised us where to eat, and gave us a hotel discount in both places. We did not regret it even once, the food was amazingly delicious in both places!
The hotel itself is just wonderful: it really looks exactly like in the photos. You want to photograph every corner and record how the sparrows are chirping on the roof, and how two wonderful cats are meowing. The room also matches and even exceeds expectations. A huge kang bed, very comfortable. Excellent shower with everything needed. Breakfast is included in the stay: the traditional Chinese one was very tasty! Unfortunately, we did not manage to eat the egg, it was freshly boiled and still hot, but we were hurrying to Shaolin Temple by opening time. Also the hotel has a laundry service, and special thanks for that too! Washing and drying were very fast, and we got our nicely smelling clothes back already after four hours, which was critical for us, because we were leaving the same day.
We felt like we really were honored guests, and we really appreciated it, even if only for one day.

Guandi Temple's entrance is literally on your doorstep, and during the Spring Festival, performances are held on its east side. This makes exploring and dining out incredibly convenient. The independent courtyard offers a beautiful and tranquil environment, complemented by attentive and warm service. With breakfast included, I highly recommend this place for your stay.

TTongyuqingyinStepping into Datong Ancient City in the afternoon, the first pleasant surprise was stumbling upon Renyi Inn.
The inn's antique courtyard, adorned with carved beams and painted rafters, and warm red lanterns, instantly brought a sense of calm. The family who runs the inn is incredibly humble and kind, their conversations warm and thoughtful, making you feel right at home. What's even more admirable is their exceptional care for animals; the inn is like a mini-zoo. They treat every little creature with gentleness and patience, which in turn fills the entire courtyard with life and spirit.
Upon entering, a majestic grey parrot, both poised and lively, greeted me from the front desk – I'd never seen such a large pet parrot before! Two smaller parrots chirped happily nearby, completely unafraid of strangers, lively and adorable. Outside my room was a small courtyard with two tea tables. After a 'special forces'-style day of temple hopping, when I was tired to the point of tears, sitting there enjoying a cup of tea was incredibly relaxing. In the adjacent fish pond, a dozen or so vibrant koi, each weighing at least two to three pounds, swam gracefully, their bodies stretching elegantly. Next to the pond, a large and a small tortoise slowly ambled, quiet and therapeutic. In a corner cage, a tiny grey squirrel darted around, agile and playful.
As dusk fell, watching the lights reflect on the pond and listening to the soft sounds of the small animals, the weariness of travel seemed to melt away in this gentle atmosphere, leaving my heart filled with peace and healing.
I thought this wonderful experience was complete, but to my surprise, a new delight awaited me the next morning – two peacocks, 'Wenqing' (blue and white) and 'Xiaofeng' (emerald green), strolled leisurely in the courtyard with their magnificent tails fanned out – yes, they even have names! The eye-spots on their tail feathers shimmered, as if they were wearing the entire starry sky, beautiful like something straight out of an ancient painting. For a moment, I couldn't tell if I was in an inn or a secret wonderland.
Renyi Inn is far more than just a place to stay; it's a hidden gem within the ancient city. The harmonious coexistence of people and animals creates a warm and healing atmosphere, adding countless gentle and delightful moments to this journey.

The main reason was its excellent location, especially since I was traveling with elderly family members. It's right in the heart of Pingyao Ancient City, making it super convenient to visit attractions like the Rishengchang Draft Bank, the Armed Escort Agency, and the County Government Office – everything is close by! 👍👍👍
The rooms aren't huge as it's an old house converted into a guesthouse, but they are very clean. All the necessary facilities are there, and both the rooms and the courtyard are spotless and comfortable. 🫰🫰🫰
The service was fantastic. The owner is very welcoming and attentive, always busy making sure everything is perfect. He gave us great recommendations on which attractions were worth visiting, marking them out on a map for us, which saved us a lot of valuable time planning our itinerary! When we left, he even gave us a bottle of their aged vinegar as a gift! 🫶🫶🫶 (Oh, and they offer pick-up and drop-off services; the young man who drove us was incredibly enthusiastic and energetic! 🤭🤭🤭)
Friends planning a trip to Pingyao should definitely contact this guesthouse owner and give it a try – it's excellent! (Lastly, I have to mention that all the restaurants he recommended were delicious, and if you mentioned his phone number, you even got a 15% discount! 🤩🤩🤩)

GGuest UserA very unique courtyard B&B inn. The rooms are clean, tidy and antique. The inn is located on the West Street of the Old City. It is right on the pedestrian street. It is very close to the Rishengchang Bank and the county government. The boss is very enthusiastic and the service is very good. I will give you a tip in advance. We sent location navigation and helped us pick up and drop off our luggage from the parking lot 🅿️. They introduced the ancient city travel suggestions in detail and arranged an ancient city guide for us to have an in-depth understanding of Pingyao’s historical and cultural heritage. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. They kindly picked us up at the railway station and helped us arrange a car rental to visit Xuankong Temple, Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, and the Yungang Grottoes.
The breakfast was also delicious and a great way to start the day.
Their hospitality and assistance made our trip much easier and more enjoyable.

Llandscape456The host was very nice, understanding our needs in advance and personally picking us up from the parking lot to help with our luggage. The room was clean and hygienic, the bathroom was very large, and the toiletries were of good quality. The guesthouse is located in a residential area with antique-style buildings, mostly run by guesthouses; currently, parking is available on the roadside outside the complex. There are many restaurants nearby, but getting breakfast isn't very convenient. The old town center is about 1.6 kilometers from the guesthouse.

GGuest UserThe location of the hotel is perfect. It is the right place to stay when visiting the Hanging Temple and Jin Temple. The room and bed are large, especially suitable for bringing children. It is no problem for a family of three to stay in a big bed. The bathroom is separated into dry and wet areas. The breakfast is also very good. Overall, it is very cost-effective.

RRoshan_hotmailWe had a fantastic stay here, largely thanks to the incredibly helpful and kind host. The hotel is housed in a 300-year-old building, giving you a beautiful, authentic experience of ancient China, but the interior is fully updated and very calm.
Arrival and Service: The host is highly organized. They arranged a free shuttle to pick us up the moment we stepped out of the Pingyao Gucheng railway station, and provided a free drop-off when it was time to leave. Upon arrival, the host sat down with a map, clearly explained how to navigate the walled city, and gave us great advice on what to prioritize.
The Room: It looks ancient from the outside, but it is a spacious, spotlessly clean, modern hotel room on the inside. It features a large flat-screen TV and a smart voice-control system for the lights. The bathroom was immaculate and entirely modern, complete with an excellent shower and a heated toilet seat. I cannot believe they provide a room of this quality for such an affordable price. It is truly worth it.
Location & Breakfast: The hotel is in a very convenient spot inside the Pingyao city walls, just a 10-minute walk to the evening light show. Breakfast is included. Rather than a standard buffet, they serve a nice traditional set meal featuring millet porridge (xiaomi), fried vegetables, and eggs (see my uploaded pictures).
I highly recommend this place if you want top-tier hospitality and a clean, comfortable blend of ancient atmosphere and modern convenience.
