3-Star hotele w: Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan

Richmond hotel was located opposite a big department store, with easy access to bus and trams. A combini is just opposite the hotel. They have a wider range of personal amenities to pick at the lobby. They have 3 machines to handle checkout, exchange currency (e.g. 1000¥ to 100¥ coins for laundry machines on 6th floor, or break 10,000¥ to smaller notes). The machines also accept your hotel parking charges. When it was raining, hotel provided full size umbrellas for use, without deposit or giving room numbers, which is very convenient. It has a car park with limited lots, so if you can secure one ,it will be very easy to unload and load your bags. Costs 2400¥ for 2 nights of parking. Main place for food is closer to Tenmonkan area, which is walkable.

Good points: - Right in front of the Ohara-machi bus stop. - A-Coop (supermarket up to 1900) is within walking distance, making shopping convenient. There's a shared microwave in the inn, so you can buy food at the supermarket and eat it there. There's also a refrigerator in the room. - There's a large public bath and a sauna. - Shiratani Unsuikyo is a 30-minute bus ride away. - The hotel staff are friendly. Not-so-good points: - The noise from the plumbing in a nearby room was surprisingly loud, making it difficult to sleep. - The rental equipment is not well maintained. The equipment itself is old. While it seems to be an established inn and shows its age in many ways, I think the location is excellent. It might be good to leverage its age and perhaps even specialize in mountain-related features. However, the facilities need to be maintained.

The onsen was a real highlight, beautifully maintained and deeply relaxing, and the view from my room was absolutely spectacular. Although it was whale season while I was there, I did not manage to see any whales this time, but that simply gives me another reason to come back. If there is one small area for improvement, it would be the dining experience. While the food was perfectly fine, it felt rather ordinary compared with the overall quality and standard of the hotel. A more varied and distinctive selection, particularly at the buffet, would better match the hotel’s otherwise excellent experience. Overall, a truly lovely stay, and one I would happily recommend.

It is advisable that you have a car as it is a bit far from the main road. Also, it would be better to avail the breakfast and dinner in the hotel due to hotel's location and there is no nearby convenience store from the hotel. Breakfast is a set meal and at the same time they have buffet style for the drinks, rice, etc. The room is spacious for 2 and the price for it is reasonable. The hotel staff are very approachable and some of them could speak/ understand English. They are also very accommodating to our requests. Overall, staying here in this hotel is worth the money.

The location is great, right in front of the tram stop, and there are many good restaurants nearby. The public bath is also a nice touch for unwinding after a long day. I booked a twin room, and as expected for a Japanese business hotel, it was small. I had to open my suitcase near the entrance as there wasn't a separate luggage rack. On the second floor, there's a reception area where you can enjoy unlimited coffee and other drinks. While the amenities aren't extensive, they are well-stocked at the reception. There's also a gym, and the breakfast restaurant offers a fantastic view, especially for catching the sunrise over Sakurajima in the morning.

What could be better -The room is quite compact, especially the leg room around the bed. It feels a little cramped. -Parking can be frustrating. Although there's a car park next to the building, it's often difficult to find an available space.

Everyone is very friendly and it's nice at home. The rice is very good and the beach is nearby, so it is perfect for spending a luxurious time. This room is a wooden house with high ceilings and a touch of woody fragrance. The ceiling fan invites you to travel. Taking a step to the balcony, the stars look very beautiful, and the sounds of various creatures come and go. I feel that I have found something forgotten in my city life. I want to live longer. The hotel is about a 3-4 minute walk from Takamibashi Station on the Kagoshima City Tram in Kagoshima City. It's also close to Kagoshima Chuo Station, making it convenient for dining and shopping. While the building itself is old, there's a water server and coffee machine behind the front desk that guests can use free of charge. Amenities, with the exception of toothbrushes, were chosen from a table next to the front desk and taken to go. There were a few inconvenient points, rather than issues that bothered me. Luggage cannot be stored here before check-in. You must store your luggage at the affiliated Hotel Taisei Annex, located a 3-4 minute walk away. The front desk is also closed in the morning, so you must take your luggage to Hotel Taisei Annex. This may be unavoidable in order to cut labor costs, but as a guest, I found it inconvenient when encountering rain or strong winds. The room itself has a workspace for working on a laptop. However, the Wi-Fi environment was poor, with frequent disconnections and timeouts making it unusable. These are areas that could be improved. Concerns The shower water pressure was fine, but the stop positions for the shower and faucet were a bit awkward, so when I came home from outside and went to the bathroom, the water was still running. The faucet switch would be fine if it was tight, but it was loose no matter which way I turned it, making it difficult to adjust. I think repairs are necessary to prevent the water from running continuously. The walls were thin, and I could hear the escort next door, so I couldn't sleep. The front desk staff were very helpful and explained any questions I had clearly. Prices vary greatly depending on when you book, but I might use it again if it's cheaper.
